Big4 Cape Jervis Accommodation & Caravan Park

晚上從袋鼠島下船後住了一晚，酒店自助check in和check out。整個園裡沒有燈光，靠汽車大燈和手機燈光找房號。找到房號後，鑰匙打不開房門，當時又黑又冷，風挺大的，心裏沒底不知為何門打不開。反覆嘗試終於打開了，其實就是球鎖不好了，正常的角度打不開。體驗感不好。房間內的設施較舊，床也不舒服。

衹能説比較適合晚上下島不想開夜車的情況。晚上checkin是需要自助的。

Stayed in the ‘Stables Cottage’ for one night before heading over to KI. We loved the place, although we used a Stays voucher and stayed during the week we found it reasonably price. Staff we dealt with was very pleasant and helpful. The accommodation was clean, tidy and comfortable. Nice kitchen area and wood fire. The Stables are situated in a quiet area of the park which made you feel like you were away from everyone. Bed was big and comfy. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend

Fantastic caravan park. Very friendly and helpful. Was a muddle up with booking dates, on my end not theirs and a lady Sue who works there still was still able to accommodate our needs at night at the lasy minute. Thank you Sue. Fantastic cabin set ups for kids and pets also. This was my 2nd time and will be going back again for sure. I'm not going to tell you which is the best cabin you'll have to find that out yourselves 😊

The accommodation in the homestead area was very acceptable, however we were disappointed with the camp kitchen it was the filthiest kitchen I have experienced and it is supposed to be a Big 4. There was a sign stating “you use it you clean it” and that’s fair enough. However there was no detergent, cleaning spray, cloths and no hot water. Oops wait there was a lump of steelo wow. If a proud owner/manager leads by example and allocates cleaning materials, then people will clean after they have used the camp kitchen. On cleaning how does one clean wash dishes in the Homestead rooms when there is only a small hand basin. Why can’t there be a dedicated plastic wash dish left in the rooms with the soap and cloths. Does this mean the dishes and cups don’t get washed by previous guests

As we had booked the last ferry to return from KI to the mainland, this caravan park seemed to be a sensible choice for staying a night. I’ve read that they have a 24/7 check-in kiosk. They must have received many of late arrivals due to its location and must have a solid SOP in place for those customers. Big mistake! The day before arrival, I emailed to inform them of my late arrival. An email with the late arrival instructions was received in the next morning, the day of arrival. Nothing in the emailed seemed to be out of the ordinary. There was an attachment of after hours check-in procedure that I didn’t read until we reached the reception. As it turned out, the attached procedure asked for my mobile phone number for generating my boomgate code. Well, a Singapore mobile number was already given to them when booking the site a month ago. Couldn’t they have used that? If they had to use an Australia local number for such an important function, should I have been informed much earlier? In addition, the email mentioned that the "reception is open until 9pm". We arrived before 8:30pm yet the reception was already closed. On the door was pasted a note with a phone number to call when having trouble with the check-in kiosk. However, I didn’t have a working Australia SIM card. Luckily, another late check-in customer arrived and he was kind enough to lend me his phone to call the emergency number. Unfortunately it only went to a voicemail recording. I tried replying the email I received stating my awkward situation then but haven’t received a single reply to date. So in a cold dark night we were stuck outside the closed reception without our boomgate code to enter the powered site that we already paid for. At such desperate time, we received the help from one of the caravans’ owner who let us use her boomgate code to enter. In short, that was the worst caravan park experience we have had after having stayed in 10 during our 3 weeks holiday. If you’re planning a late arrival to this place, please don’t make the same mistake as I did. The other aspects of this place are positive enough though. A spacious area with few trees and not too many sites. Decent toilets, shower and a well-equipped camp kitchen with a space to sit down and enjoy the food. Didn’t know how to operate the stove so I used our portable one. BIG4 standard? Doubt so. The night was quiet but traffic noise started in the morning. Woke up and we were greeted by a magnificent view!
