We enjoyed our visit to Mill Creek Ranch! We stayed in Cottage #60. It was super clean and had everything we would need during our stay. It was a pet friendly cabin. We brought our 3 small dogs. We rented a golf cart during our stay which was a lot of fun. The grounds are very well maintained and the staff is so friendly. They have a camp store and 2 pools. The pool at the lodge is beautiful and adults are able to enjoy the pool/hot tub til midnight during certain nights of the week. While in Canton we enjoyed one day at Splash Kingdom and went to First Monday Trade Days.

I began planning for our '24 Eclipse trip to Texas shortly after our '17 experience in Oregon. I almost missed that life-enhancing experience due to poor planning. I carefully calculated the trajectory and duration of totality and assembled my crew of travelers. As I made my inquiries, it became clear that many venues had no clue about the coming event in April, 2024. One property stood out, Mill Creek Ranch in Canton, TX. Located at the apex of totality, it offered beautiful RV sites and darling little cottages. Our group of family and friends were thrilled with the choice. A shout out to manager Christie Powell who guided me through the complications of accommodating RV sites and cottages for voyagers from WA, CA and TX. If you travel in an RV, you will have your choice of lake views (free fishing) and huge grassy sites. The cottages are pristine with outdoor decks and fully equipped kitchens. The onsite country store has a little of everything, run by a bevy of friendly, enthusiastic staff. You can even rent a golf cart. We toasted totality with our eclipse champagne (and safety sun glasses, of course) and promised to try and make it back to Canton in the future.

Tiny cabins are nice but the road down to them is terrible. It had rained and there were huge puddles that forces you to walk in the grass which was obviously wet but not muddy. Also they said wifi wasn’t working because it was Trade Days weekend and everyone in the park was using it.

We arrived on Friday night around 8:00. It had rained a bit and that’s when we found out about the parking. You have to park at the lodge and then unload everything onto a golf cart which will take you to your cabin. Family of 5 and 3 dogs with luggage, on a gravel mud road. Didn’t work out so well. The cabin(tiny house) was great, it was clean and well maintained. Don’t plan on watching TV of any kind, it’s streaming ROKU and buffers every couple minutes for several minutes. The park has a couple pools and fishing which were nice. They require a 3 night minimum during the trades days @ $290/night for a total of $1017.17. Overall, the beds were comfortable and the linens clean. The idea of having to park and call for a ride every time you need to go back and forth is to inconvenient for us. We definitely would not return. The cart paths were gravel but mostly just mud, prevented us from walking around to much so we were confirmed to the cabin. The upper areas where the concrete roads and RV pad sites were great and it seemed those people were having a blast. The kids were riding scooters and bikes with a lot of room to play. NOT the case with the cabins just a mud pit.
