I booked 6 nights here in July. When browsing for the room type to book I decided I didn't want to stay in a Chambre Classique Duplex and paid more for a Balcony Room. When I arrived, which was almost 1am due to a flight delay, I found that I was in the room I paid more money not to be in—a Chambre Classique Duplex. The room is small, dated, and had a musty smell. It is not the modern rooms pictured, but what I am guessing are the older rooms. I went to the reception to explain I had been placed in a room that is of a lesser category than the one I paid for. The person at reception, who told me his name is ****, responded that the hotel was full, there was nothing he could do, he has already checked me in (with the implication that the job he was paid to do was done), and if I wanted to I could check in the morning and maybe I would get moved. While I truly believe that there was nothing he could have done at that moment in time, I find this attitude to be quite uncomfortable, especially as a woman travelling solo. I felt a fear that if something had happened to me, I am running the risk of them treating me in the same way. As it was 1am, I returned to my room. I spoke to trip.com, who are very helpful. I requested for the difference in the room I paid for, and was actually placed in, to be refunded, and for the rest of my stay to be refunded, as I find it uncomfortable to stay in a place like this and no longer wish to stay. They helped me to speak with the hotel and I received the same response—that there is nothing they can do right now. And so the next morning, I went back to reception to speak to them. They told me that the Chamber Classique Duplex I am placed in is one variety of the Balcony Room I booked. Note that I have no actual proof of this—only what they told me. They offered to move me to a different room and wanted to show me first, but a refund will not be possible because it is a non-refundable booking. At this point I had only had a few hours of sleep in the room, which I found very uncomfortable; the air conditioning didn’t seem circulate around the room. The hotel is marketed as a 4-star but there is no coffee or water in the room. I asked if it is possible for me to get a coffee and come back to them. Around this time, I was informed by my family that my grandmother could pass away at any time back home in Hong Kong, and I so needed to leave immediately. When I got back to the hotel I explained the situation; I said I will accept the explanation about the night I already stayed, and will not seek a refund in the difference, but I still would like to have a refund for the rest of the stay. I was met with the same response: it is a non-refundable booking. The lady at the desk, ***** (sp?) seems nice, but she offered the same answer over and over—it is a non-refundable booking. I can’t speak for what she was thinking or how she does her job, but the feeling I got was that people here don’t really care what you think, what your opinion is, or what is happening to you; they will smile and nod, but they don’t care. You as a guest just need to know the money you paid is the money you paid, and you will get whatever you are given. I left the hotel without a conclusion on the refund, raced back to Hong Kong a few hours later, and a day after I got home, my grandmother died. Trip.com kindly continued to liaise with them on the matter and it was the same answer: it is a non-refundable booking. I never did get a refund from the hotel. As I said, I believe in karma. But I hope that rushing home from abroad to be by a loved one’s side as they take their last breaths never happens to anyone who owns or works in this hotel.

Boede her med min mand i september 2023, og vi elskede det. Personalet var meget venligt, værelset var rent. Det er mindre end 5 minutters gang til de nærmeste butikker og caféer, og måske 10 minutter at gå til fronten. Ville helt sikkert blive her igen, hvis vi besøgte Cannes igen. Vi tjekkede ud kl. 12 og efterlod vores tasker for dagen, da vores fly hjem først var kl. 22.00. Vi gik endda tilbage senere på eftermiddagen, og de lod os sidde ved poolen lidt før vi tog afsted - meget venlige!! Tip: morgenmaden er omkring 20 € pr. person. Vi oplevede det ikke, men du kan spise dejlig morgenmad på forskellige caféer mindre end 10 minutters gang væk til den halve pris!

Vi havde balkon værelse (138) med udsigt over poolen. Hotellernes nærhed til shopping, strand, restauranter og natteliv var fremragende. Supermarkeder og konditorier også meget tæt på. Overflod af ting alle inden for kort gåafstand (intet behov for taxaer). Kunne virkelig godt lide swimmingpoolen på grund af dybden på 1,4 meter overalt, hvilket var meget behageligt, og poolområdet var meget rart, da det er et lille hotel, er der ingen kamp med andre gæster om liggestole, som vi også elskede. Personale vi er meget imødekommende og behagelige. Badeværelset i vores værelse har brug for lidt vedligeholdelse (intet større) og nogle snack tilgængelighed ved poolen ville helt sikkert være en forbedring for gæster. Hovedvej og jernbanelinje, der støder op til hotellet, generede os overhovedet ikke. Værelset var godt lydisoleret foran, men vil sige, at du kan høre rengøringsmidler og intern støj meget, når du er på dit værelse. Hvis du sover let, kan det være et problem for dig om morgenen. Hotellet har ikke en restaurant, men det generede os ikke som så mange i nærheden. Samlet set kunne vi virkelig godt lide hotellet og beliggenheden og nød vores ophold. Vi ville vende tilbage igen, hvis vi boede i Cannes.

Jeg blev bestjålet på dette hotel, og de har ikke gjort noget ved det! Hoteldirektøren sagde, at han ville kontakte forsikringen for at refundere mig, men fordi jeg ikke havde en kvittering for varen (som jeg købte for tre år siden!!) kunne han ikke gøre noget. Hvis han dog kunne se i CCTV-kameraet, at jeg ankommer til hotellet med min store og DYRE hat, og efter at de havde skiftet værelse, forsvandt hatten. En 50 cm hat blev stjålet, og de har ikke gjort noget ved det. Jeg kan ikke forestille mig, hvor nemt det skal være at stjæle et smykke eller en lille genstand! ALDRIG IGEN!!!

Dette hotel er smukt, det er et boutiquehotel med en paladsagtig følelse. Herrerne i receptionen var virkelig imødekommende ved indtjekning. Vi ankom tidligt, så vi skulle bare efterlade vores bagage og gå og udforske Cannes. Men vi ankom ved middagstid, og vores værelse var allerede klar. Vi var så glade. Vi havde været vågne siden 03.00 den morgen for at nå vores fly, så det at kunne slappe af, pakke ud og gå ud i vores egen tid gjorde en kæmpe forskel. Værelset har en fin størrelse med balkon og ret stort badeværelse. Bruser er enestående - virkelig kraftfuld. Sikker og køleskab gode hånd også. Hvis du kommer til dette hotel om sommeren, så sørg for at besøge poolområdet. Det er fantastisk og har en blanding af skygge og solrige steder at ligge ude i. Pool er en dejlig temperatur og er ikke for lavvandet, så man kan svømme let. Jeg ville ikke tænke to gange om at komme her igen. Hvilket fund, og vi reserverede det kun natten før vi ankom! Tak Golden Tulip Hotel, du vil blive i vores hjerter.

Pros: Duplex room we booked was dated and not good so we were moved. The lady and man on check-in were great, the young man was also great with bar service etc. Walkable to the beach and shops, restaurants etc Pool area was nice (but loud with car noises as on a busy road) Negatives: Room we moved too was TINY. No door on the toilet which made privacy very hard Balcony was completely blocked so couldn’t see anything other than a wall Breakfast was not good so we skipped this and went to local patisserie Lady on check-out was quite defensive when I asked for a receipt to check for extra payments being asked. I just wanted a quick run through not an argument! Daily shampoo and body washes weren’t refilled once during our entire stay Entire hotel felt dated and uncared for

I had a negative experience at this hotel. I don't wish to leave this review with malice as I believe in karma—my intention is to share my experience with fellow travellers. Great staff, serious people trying to help you out the best they could. The place is just fantastic, that an old private hotel with a beautiful garden/pool. Everything is so authentic and real. The rooms are small but comfy, the bar is really beautiful. The hotel is very well located, few minutes walk from most restaurants/bars area, as well as few minutes walk from the beach. Thanks to the staff for their commitment and support. Definitely where I will be going next summer while visiting Cannes.
