Catalonia Punta del Rey

Excellent value for money. Back home to the freezing cold and having to make my own meals haha. To anyone thinking of or have booked for the first time. We booked this as a last minute deal at the end of November and this would be my review. I am a very fussy eater and had no issues with the food lovely fresh salads, cold meats, grilled meats, pasta meals and other dishes. Desserts lunch and evening aswell as fresh fruits and yogurts. Very varied and also themes nights. On an evening there is either a whippy icecream machine or chocolate fountain. Snacks available also throughout the day. Loved the paella by the pool. Vodka is drinkable and I buy coke zero out of shop next door to go in it or the vending machine, i haven't tried the draught mixers to be fair but even in pubs at home I always go for a can or bottle for mixer. Larger is canny. Hotel is a bit dated but clean and plenty of entertainment going on day and night and the team and acts are really good. Location Spanish area and they struggle to understand the English. Few Spanish bars and restraunts in walking distance as well as shops and a small shopping mall. *****In September I paid well over a grand each for a week on Rhodes, yes the room was lovely but couldn't eat the food .... I couldn't eat anything for breakfast, a slice of pizza for lunch and had to eat out each night as food was soo bad and the flies, don't ask. I couldnt drink the vodka or coke there so had to buy my own. Over all great little week away and would I come back definately.

Stayed 17-24 Dec for some winter sun and what a lovely breakaway for little money, staff all friendly and work tirelessly, food in the main restaurant was very good, to have baked salmon, smoked salmon, lamb chops, steak, king prawns,roast beef etc.. during my stay how can anyone knock the kitchen for their output of some very tasty meals and the Mr Whippy ice cream machine was a hit with all Yes the standard rooms are dated and showing signs of wear, we were allocated room 356 which was fine with a very powerful shower over a shallow bath. Basic complimentary toiletries in the room. Tv in room around 7 British channels Now to the pools we used the adults only pool with its infinity pool (located across the road) which is very modern and has a self serve drinks station including beer and soft drinks. Snacks are in a fridge and are restocked through the day, sandwiches, yoghurts, fresh fruits. Life guard on duty The main pool is mainly focused on families and has a greater selection of snacks through the day and a staffed full bar Entertainment at night is good and I enjoyed the Elton John tribute, and the circus show I had no reason to complain during my stay as the hotel and hard working team are an asset to the hotel. My expectations were surpassed for a 3 star hotel that offers soo much to it guests It’s worth a bus ride out to Candelaleria for around 1.8€ each way and also a bus ride to Santa de Cruz The Tui reps are in the hotel daily if you need assistance or would like to book a excursion if that’s your thing I would stay again and would hire a car so that I could explore other parts of the island at my own pace

I’m sorry to say the hotel needs up dating especially the lifts. However saying that it’s still our favourite hotel as we come here every year and enjoy most of the hotel. People who complain about the smokers there are smoke free areas, and as for them complaining about people drinking too much don’t make me laugh the drinks are extremely weak. However I must say the hotel snacks near the pool area could do with an upgrade, off putting and unfortunately unappealing display.once again soft drinks where like last year very disappointing and far to sweet making them sickening to drink we ended up having to buy real soft drinks from the shop next to the hotel for our mixers, as a all inclusive hotel that was our only complaints. As always staff were friendly and pleasant, especially the hard working housemaids and bar staff. It may not be to everyone’s liking but we have visited this hotel for a number of years, and love the area surrounding the hotel. I know it’s not for everyone but for value it’s not that bad. The best things are the amazing water fall it’s beautiful and we love seeing the turtles. The gym is top notch but nobody seems to use it. Another great part is the other areas open to guest across from the hotel where you can relax away from the noisy main hotel pool area.

Staff work hard all the time. Hotel great. But Cost of living is spoiling it for every body its the company not the hotel. Is spoiling this hotel !!. Been here 8 times,fingers crossed we can come again!!!! Please review everything th8s hotel as to offer .

We're here ..Just arrived today and our room has a closed in balcony facing a glass wall to the entertainments lounge. Have asked to upgrade to premium room but apparently none available. On the plus side food in restaurant was lovely tonight but if we can't get premium room tomorrow we ll be leaving.

What can I say. We absolutely loved it. We paid for a premium room and was on the 9th floor overlooking the pool with a great sea view. On arrival we had bathrobes and slippers as well as complimentary bottle of cava and cakes and chocolates. Each day around teatime someone knocking on the door offering complimentary chocolates. The staff were all brilliant,kind and smiling especially Arminda at the pool bar. The food in the restaurant was plentiful and tasty with different theme nights Indian,Italian,Spanish etc, and nothing was too much for the staff. It's around a 20 minute walk to Candaleria but there is a gradient on returning. We highly recommend the Catalonia Del Rey and will definitely be returning.
