Mangia's Himera Resort

L himera per me è la mia famiglia è una garanzia. Per il 3 anno abbiamo deciso di soggiornare in questa splendida struttura. Chi vuole staccare la spina sicuramente questo è il posto ideale..ottima location,moderna con un design particolare. Cucina ottima,piscina sempre pulita.. consiglio vivamente. Noi ci ritorneremo. Had a lovely time in Sicily at Mangia's Himera Resort. The two of us spent a few days by the side of the pool which was really relaxing and went to Palermo on the train for the day. Ivana and Patrizia (Reception) were incredibly helpful in advising us how to get to the city, advised on what to see when we got there, provided a map and arranged a taxi to the train station - thanks so much for your assistance, it was greatly appreciated. The train station is a few minutes drive from the hotel and it cost 10EUR each way. The train to Palermo takes about 40 minutes and cost 6.5EUR per person each way (use the Trenitalia website to book - it's really simple and much better than purchasing and validating paper tickets). It's a beautiful city and definitely well worth the visit! Our room was 'compact' but more than adequate and was very modern and spotlessly clean like the rest of the hotel. We had a sea view but the sea is a fair distance away visually (could be my eyesight going) so I wouldn't spend extra to get a sea view unless you really wish to. It was lovely and quiet at night - no banging doors, loud music etc which is great for a good nights sleep! I needed an extra pillow which I always ask for in hotels; they very rarely actually arrive but in this instance, it was with us in 10 minutes so that was me happy. Food was sublime! Could have been a touch hotter at breakfast but loads of delicious seafood, various meats and salads each day. I can't recall a better all-inclusive food offer; rather than a massive variety of decent quality food as many hotels do, this was a decent variety of magnificent food. Red wine (on tap) was absolutely superb and the deserts were delicious too! The beach is OK but nothing to get excited about. Nice for a bit of relaxation away from the pool if that's your thing but probably not one for you is you're after miles of golden sands... Location is somewhat out of the way. Nowhere to walk to if you like a stroll - just something to bear in mind. If you fancy a peaceful, relatively low-key break in Sicily in a modern clean hotel with fantastic food, great wine lovely staff and lots of beautiful places to visit, Mangia's Himera Resort is definitely one to consider. We'd happily go back again.

Very good hotel, with nice beach and good service. Good service and hotel standard. Food and drinks very good quality, live cooking and Italian dishes changing every day. Only one problem is a room size (smaller then description on web side - different is about 5 sq. meters).

What one is looking for a holiday differs greatly between folk and so I must start this review by stating that, after 18 months of challenge and stress in our lives, we were seeking complete relaxation. We read reviews of Mangia's Himera Resort and were aware that we would be quite isolated in terms of location and mobility - didn't matter - and that we were likely to be two in a very small number of Brits or English speakers - didn't matter; we just wanted to crash for two weeks in a comfortable environment and come away feeling refreshed. Mangia's Himera Resort proved to precisely fit the bill. The hotel, whilst spacious, felt compact enough that you would recognise guests and there is a good balance between indoor and outdoor spaces, in fact there are plenty of spaces in Reception, the lobby and the entertainment space for sitting and relaxing. Outdoor spaces range from courtyards, poolside seating by the bar, outdoor area to the restaurant, plenty of sunbeds, both directly next to the pool and on terraces. In addition there are more sunbeds on the lawn by the beach, by the beachside bar and on the beach itself, where there is a Life Guard on duty for most of the day, with a timetable of when the beach is supervised posted on the fence at the entrance to the beach. The pool, at first glance, doesn't seem very large, but it easily accommodated the guests who were there in May. The main pool is a single depth and, in addition, one corner is sectioned off as a children's pool, with shallow steps to each section. There are poolside showers and toilets available, and you can borrow a good quality beach towel from Reception - we paid 5 Euros each for a two week stay. The hotel has a spa - which we didn't visit - with a list of treatments available provided in the room, a small shop selling basics, swimwear, a few English language books and lots of souvenirs and postcards. There is also an office from where you can book excursions, or the hotel shuttle bus, which goes to the nearby town of Cefalu daily. You can also hire a car from an office within the hotel, not necessarily the cheapest rates, but you have the car directly from the hotel, rather than having to go to collect from Cefalu or Palermo. The Animation Team are young, multi lingual and enthusiastic. They organise activities in the pool and entertainment lounge during the day and, each evening there is either a 'show' or something like a quiz. Rooms, in common with the hotel in general, are stylish, well decorated, spotlessly clean, with chic bathrooms and plenty of storage. I found the bed in our room really uncomfortable but, on enquiring at Reception, they liaised with the wonderful Housekeeping Team, who bolstered the matress for me and, from then on, I slept well.
