Riversdale Estate Cottages

Bed bugs! We stayed in the Cambridge cottage over a weekend in November. It was very comfortable and welcoming. But oh the bed bugs….by the time we checked out I had numerous bites over my face, scalp, arms and back. We raised the issue with a staff member as we departed. She was very concerned and urged us to contact the owner on the number she supplied because “She will be very concerned about this and will want to hear from you.” We’ve travelled a lot and understand that even the best of places can experience a bed bug outbreak from time to time. What disappointed us was the lack of response from Riversdale. We range twice on the number provided and left messages for Wendy asking her to contact us but received no reply over the following weeks. By the Wednesday the itching was so distracting I visited a chemist for advice. After spending about $60 on treatments we finally had the itching under control. But we never got a return phone call. We are assuming the owner/manager received our messages and as we are in the tourism business, know how impactful a negative review can be. Pete and Jill

We visited for 5 days. The view was beautiful. It was peaceful and quiet. The cottage was nice although not very clean. Stains on the couch covered by stained throws, the beds also had stains on the linen. The bins were full of rubbish on arrival, no laundry amenities unless you try using the 20yr old laundromat machine in a little shack that requires more than a handful of $1 coins to operate. There was not even 1 tiny complimentary packet of washing powder to get you started. - BYO.... The TV only had 3 channels 7, 9 and 10... when the TV reception worked. The TV remote had no batteries and when we purchased the batteries the remote didn't even work in the end. There was a DVD player with no DVDs. So all in all dont expect much, its not the best accommodation for kids in our experience.
