Elba Carlota Beach & Golf Resort

Our 2nd visit to this wonderful hotel, wonderful location with town and beach very close,just got back from spending 12 nights, everything was perfect. I can’t give any negatives because I don’t really have any. Can’t believe other negative reviews about the food, our party of 6 Always found the food excellent. Rooms were cleaned each day, pool area clean and tidy. Plants and trees outside the lifts -1 floor from room 538 needs looking at they don’t look healthy. We will return many thanks.

We are here now… This hotel is beautiful, it’s clean, the drinks are standard, the staff are lovely but… The food is dreadful!! I’m not a fussy eater the only thing I do not eat is mushrooms. But this has to be one of the worst hotels for food I’ve ever been too. If I’d have brought one of my kids he would have eaten pizza, bread and butter and nothing else. Can’t fault the breakfast! It’s brilliant. But the food is left out for ages and it’s stale, it’s old, it’s just not great I’d expect this food for 2 maybe 3 star not 4. My friend has a fish allergy and the signs don’t always match the food. My other friend is a veggie and there is bare minimum for her to eat! The pool is lovely, the music around the pool brilliant except the Christmas song it’s a bit early lol The beach is lovely and a nice walk to the shops. Entertainment is great for the kids.

Could do with extending the small outside area at the Sinatra bar with some extra chairs outside in the evening. One of the better entertainment nights was when they opened the pool bar at night and had a disco party but again people were left to sit on the edge of the sunbeds, would of been better if they could of moved some of the Sinatra bar chairs to the pool bat area. Plenty of sunbeds even for 4 of us together but not all beds around the pool could have an umbrella which were all fixed in position, would be better with movable umbrellas. Soft drinks were self service as were a coffee machine but not the beer which if it was I am sure it would of cut down any queues at the bar. Water is available from water cooler dispensers at the the pool bar in the day and the other bars in the evening - be organised and fill your own bottles and pp them in your fridge in your room. 2 main pools with the smaller one heated - and wow was it heated - luxury I have never been in such a warm heated pool even the non heated one was warmer than the usual hotel pool, top marks for that. The double bed was absolutely massive and very comfy but the pillows were thin, asked for extra pillows on the app but it didn't seem to work so went to reception to ask for some, most hotels have extra pillows in the cupboard if you need them. We had a standard room and was bigger than most hotel rooms- the walls seemed solid to sound proof next door, the blackout curtains worked very well The planes - we liked watching them, they fly directly over the hotel from about 8 am to 10.30 pm the balcony doors were very good at cutting out most of the sound of the planes. People who complain on trip adviser about it clearly have never used trip adviser otherwise they would of known - also remember YOU flew in on that same route. The food was very good something for every one, I am a fish lover and there was fish every day cooked 2 ways one grilled and one in a sauce, the evening dinner was a different theme each night. Breakfast -the odd thing I found with the scrambled eggs is they were sort of cooked in a big tray and chopped up rather than scrambled. The mushrooms I think were tinned but maybe that's an island thing in general. Pool bar snacks were ok and varied each day and also varied throughout the day. After reading reviews we never bothered with the Italian a-la-cart which 1 visit was included, mainly because the restaurant buffet food was so good. It would be better to just turn that Italian a la cart into an evening entertainment area with its veranda alongside the pool bar would be a great inside/ outside area at night. 2 mins and you are out the back gate and onto a very nice soft sand beach which is better than the main beach which is a bit hard. Beds are 4 euros and an umbrella is 4. Out a side gate or the main entrance and 3 mins next door is a shopping centre with a spar if you want extras. It was OK, this is a completely unbiased and honest review. I stayed here with my partner and toddler. We returned a couple of days ago. ROOMS - lovely, cleaned every day and maids are trustworthy. No issues. Air con great ALL INCLUSIVE - average. I have stayed at 3 star hotels with much better selection. I am not a complainer however I did have to complain when I bit into raw chicken. The manager did not really seem bothered when i showed him the inside of undercooked chicken. Just said ok thanks I will let the guys know. Had that been in the UK it would have stopped being served immediately. I hope know one was sick. AL A CARTE - awful, nothing more to say. Sat in a stuffy hut with no music or air conditioning and rhe two waitresses were clearly having a disagreement. I have stayed at plenty of four stars where the experience and the surrounding have been a lot better. POOLS - Lovely, spent most the time at the beach and babies pool. Met some great other mums and dads. ANIMATION - The guys work hard, they has dedicated entertainers for rhe French guests through their tour operator and the smaller guys was nice and always smiling and chatty. The others seemed less interested in engaging with other guests who were not booked through Framassima (the French tour operator) which is fine and understandable they are contracted for their own guest. The general entertainment could have made more of an effort to come around the baby pool and see the little toddlers. Was actually a really good vibe. Came around maybe once or twice within the week for a couple of minutes with Pepe. But yeah they could make more of an effort for the toddlers rather than just adult guests. Hardly any kids over 4 due to school so it was just mainly babies, toddlers and adults. I can see why the hotel is 4 star as they hit the bare minimum. But never stayed at a four star that does not have air conditioning in the restaurants, bars and lobbies. Little tip too that would make the night time entertainment great... build a stage outside infront of the sinatra centre at the area where the quieter big pool is, in the evening move the sun beds and put out tables and chairs ect and have entertainment outside in the warm months. Far too hot and stuffy in the entertainment halls. I understand the hotel has regular returning guests year on year but I have experienced many, 3 star, 3 star plus, 4 star and 5 star hotels. Unfortunately this is probably the worst 4 star I have stayed at for the above reasons. Also every night after being out all day we had to go to reception due to no towels. We hung our towels back up but they were still taken and not replaced. Did meet some lovely people and the waiters were a credit. I forget the chaps name but I tipped him a few times. Lovely man always smiling and always on shift. I would probably not return if I am honest or recommend due to the fact there are better hotels out there on the different islands for a similar price.

The hotel is in a great location, and all services that offers are in high standard. It was a couple of issues but sorted so quick. Cleanliness around the pool in some days was bad, and the pool area should be clean every day. Reception staff is very friendly and helpful. In a restaurant wasn't a big choice but all food in high quality and so tasty. Staff in restaurant very nice and friendy. It's their very nice lady, Ms. Sonia is very friendly and so so helpful. Overall, it is a great hotel in high standard with perfect location just 15min from airport. Definitely, we wish to come back there.

This is a genuine review but I can honestly say I can’t see how some reviewers are giving this 4-5 stars I really can’t !! Firstly the air con in the rooms is non existent (we moved rooms 3 times and it was no better in each room we gave up in the end ) it does not cool the room your better off turning it off opening the patio then letting the breeze blow into the room ! The sunbeds around the pools are all gone and reserved around 7.30am not unusual I know but why have signs up saying not allowed if nothing is done about it ? Or why do this and not use the bed all day It states on the website 2 pools 1 adult 1 family/kids but both was full of kids The queue for the drinks at the bars is unbelievable 1 serving 20 waiting !! Entertainment abysmal ! Only one good turn was a lady singing and playing the saxophone was great but only 15 seats so you had to sit on the sunbeds to watch her …. Great beach but wouldn’t return there’s much much better to choose from
