From the moment I stepped into the hotel, I felt like I was at home. Sara at the reception desk checked me in, showed me around, and directed me to my single room. The room was just as shown on the hotel’s website, featuring Sardinian textiles (bed linens and curtains), a single bed, a spacious wardrobe housing a mini-bar and a safe, desk, television, air-con, and a bath with shower. The breakfast selection was abundant, featuring assorted fresh pastries, fruit juice, fresh fruits, yoghurts, cereals, cheeses, etc. One of the owners, Tiziana, explained to me that she and her husband had inherited the original home whose style is known as a “campidanese” – a farmhouse, where a family lived and worked the rural land at the rear. Tiziana and her husband later cleared the rural land and constructed several buildings that are currently the hotel rooms. The delightful swimming pool at the rear of the property is functional for doing small laps, with the sun streaming from the morning to the late afternoon. There are also shaded areas. The hotel reception is closed from 10 p.m. to 7.30 a.m., but that didn’t stop Tiziana from personally calling me at 6.30 a.m. so I could get on the road to catch a flight to Alghero. A 3-star property with 5-star service!!! Thank you, Villa Canu, for a wonderful stay.
