Cabañas El Cielito

Wonderful get-away!! El Cielito was literally a breath of fresh air from the crowded “tourism scene” in the area. If you are looking for a relaxing, beautiful and affordable location for your next vacation, this is exactly what you are looking for. Staff were all amazing and the accommodations were superb. We will definitely return…often!!

What a nice place! From the king sized bed in a cabaña on a beach front bluff, to friendly and accommodating staff, to whale watching while eating well prepared and tasty food, we could not have asked for more. This small 15 cabin resort is a hidden gem to which we will return. We have stayed in many, many places in Canada, the USA Mexico and across Central and South America, including luxury AI facilities, remote hostels and B&Bs, and this one offered the best experience and opportunity to just relax away from it all. It is not fancy and is as it appears in the pictures. Details: * There is hot water and private bathrooms in every cabin * There are 7 or 8 cabins with direct water views and others with garden views * There are not kitchen facilities or appliances in the cabins. It is probably possible to use the restaurant kitchen refrigerator for storage purposes (e.g. medication) * Gluten free and vegetarian options are available in the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner at no extra charge * The beach is wide and easily accessible by a short stairway. * The ocean has a steep break fairly close to shore along the beach immediately adjacent to and to the north of the resort. As a result most folks will find it a challenge to swim off the beach. Wading with care is possible, but the waves can come in pretty hard and fast. It is not a place you want kids to play unsupervised. * There is a lagoon which runs south from the end of the resort. We saw fisherman wading there and kayaks are available to use on it. I am not sure swimming would be enjoyable. There may be safe locations for ocean swimming a kilometer or so south. * There is a swimmable beach in the village of Tehuamixtle, a couple of kms north, not a place you can get to by beach walk. * A parking lot is available at no charge. A car is pretty much a must at this place, though there is a once a day bus from el Twuito, about 50 kms away on Highway 200. * The paved road from el Twuito to Tehuamixtle is better than the highway from Puerto Vallarta. The 2 km section going south from there to CABAÑAS EL CIELITO is a little rough, but can be driven with a regular car. The same road can be traveled south from there back to Highway 200, but it is a long, dusty drive without many ocean views or settlements offering tourists much. I would like to recommend that each cabana has a small bar fridge to keep personal items cold. Thank you

A beautiful place to get away from it all - even the wifi barely works. We had the luxury of being the only guests at the hotel for the night we stayed. Unfortunately, they put us in one of the 2 cabanas with no ac, so it was a little uncomfortable overnight, and the room needs some work. We toured the other units though and they were pristine and updated. Lovely staff and the view from the pool is amazing! Don’t go if you are looking for a party, or an ocean swim, (The waves are rough), but if you need somewhere to escape for a few days this is for you.
