Widemouth Manor

This is my third time going here. I would say this place has gone downhill in the last three years. I will explain. My first visit was fantastic, the carvery was the best one I have ever had. Year three, well I had the chicken which was good but get this the chips were disgusting 🫣. My friend also didn't like them. I decided to complain. More chips came, still horrible. The manageress came along to sort out the problem. Well she said no one else has complained about the chips 🙄. I have worked in hospitality for years and the customer is always right. Got the price of chips taken off billl. Never going back again.

This was a return visit. We were again given a lovely warm welcome and made to feel at home from the off. Room was fantastic with a balcony/patio with views of the fields and the sea. The menu has a good choice with some excellent specials. Food is cooked to a high standard. The staff are really friendly and cannot do enough for you. Will definitely return again.

Attended the venue for a friends wedding vows renewal. Beautiful setting and excellent staff. Unfortunately the double room we booked to stay in was not suitable. However the manager showed a lot of class and gave us our money back allowing us to source a more suitable room.

Location, Location, Location. This quiet and peaceful hotel overlooks Widemouth Bay and there is.a path leading right down to the beach - so an absolutely perfect location. A great base for exploring the North Cornwall Coast and an easy walk from the hotel to stunning Widemouth Bay. The restaurant is newly refurbished and serves standard pub grub - but Thursday nights are grill night and there is a Sunday Carvery which is popular locally. There is a sunset lounge, but it only opens on Friday and Saturday nights - even in July?! There are no other options for dining unless you drive into Bude. Check-In is strictly not before 3.30pm - the doors are firmly locked until then.. Our room (Room 7) was small, very dated and had a “wet room” (ie the toilet is actually in the shower, so you get wet feet if you need to use it) which was in dire need of refurbishment. We slept OK though and enjoyed our stay overall. The rooms let this otherwise lovely hotel down a bit, but it’s not really that expensive for this lovely area and we really enjoyed our stay here - so 4 stars overall. LovetoWander.

Previously when I've stayed I've had a view of the car park, however this time the room was described as having a sea view. I could see the sea from the window, but it wasn't what I would describe as a 'sea view'. Even in the middle of the night the room wasn't completely dark, which I attributed to the light over the main door which was on all night, and under the window in my room. There was an adult size towel in the room, rather than the child size towel that had been provided on previous stays. The breakfast menu is still very basic, but locally there isn't anywhere lese in walking distance to eat at.

Great location, just a short walk or drive to the nearby beach. Lovely venue Widemouth Manor is well positioned, has great grounds and outside space, private parking and bar and restaurant. The room was, on first impressions clean, tidy and well presented with sea views, ensuite shower room, tv, tea/coffee facilities and a welcoming bottle of bubbly. 🥰 Bed was comfortable, however duvet was way too hot, possibly was a winter tog duvet rather than a lighter version and we didn’t sleep too well due to this. Shower needed a much better clean inside around the door and the sealant needs replenishing. On departure I always strip the bed and found the mattress protector had blood and ‘other’ stains on it which is unacceptable to find and how anyone can make a bed up fresh and clean yet leave a filthy mattress protector under fresh bedding is beyond comprehension! Breakfast was a dull and uninspiring experience, very limited menu choice of cooked options, and no continental/cereals/fruit/yoghurt choice whatsoever. Just a plate of cooked breakfast, toast, tea, coffee, juice. No extra toast offered or jams or preserves. However the cooked breakfast was hot and tasty. All in all, the stay was, imo overpriced for what it was by around £50 too much.
