Hotel Forty One

Location is great, everywhere is walking distance from the hotel. Loads of places to eat and chill, the downside is it can be very noisy at night.

This my fair assessment of this hotel which has many positive features and one bad one. Location - A 3 star hotel, perfectly positioned in the old town with easy walking distances to many of Bucharest main sites and only 5 min walk to the nearest metro station. The hotel has 27 rooms and is surrounded by bars and restaurants etc. The hotel has its own restaurant attached and guests can get a 15% discount off their bill if they dine in house. Appearance - A bit tired in places but nothing that would stop me from staying again. I was in block B which looks very new but sadly due to space does not have a lift so the 44 steps up to my room every day was a bit of a chore but kept me fit. Staff/Service - Bearing in mind not all the staff were fluent in English, I found all of the staff were friendly and helpful particularly the reception staff. Food and drinks - I was only expecting a continental type breakfast and s expected there was plenty of bread, hams, cheese, croissants, fruit, cereals and yoghurts to be had. But the bonus was that there was also fried and scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages so every day I could leave with a hearty breakfast inside of me and on the one day I had to skip breakfast due to an early start, The hotel provided a breakfast box. We ate in the hotel restaurant once during our stay and loved it. Bedroom - The bedroom was a bit on the small side but the bed was large and comfortable, the room had a free safe, colour TV with some channels in English, and a fridge filled with soft drinks and beers, available for purchase. Bathroom - The bathroom was even smaller but the shower was hot and powerful, toiletries are provided so need to bring your own and the hotel also provide, slippers and a hair dryer in every room. My biggest grip with the bathroom was that there was no shelves at all to store my own goods which was a bit of a pain. Trips - The hotel does provide trips but I had already booked mine via Get my Guide, before I arrived. WIFI - Very good downstairs but a bit hit and miss in the room. Hotel Attitude - I did write to the hotel prior to my visit asking for a room at the back, as other reviewers had stated the rooms at the front were noisy and they responded immediately confirming I could have a back room and indeed I did get one. Summary - This hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the old town with most things within a 10 minute walk of the hotel. The staff could not be faulted , the breakfast was better than expected and the restaurant ( Arcade Café) was excellent. It is competitively priced and the bed was comfortable. Despite the fact that we had a room at the back of the hotel, the noise from a nearby nightclub was still very loud, and even though the hotel provide all guests with earplugs, I did have a disturbed sleep most nights and this would be the only reason that I would not return to this hotel.

Stayed 4 nights with friends and it couldn’t be better placed in Bucharest in the heart of the old town. Unfortunately the alarm bells started ringing when we saw ear plugs in reception. Every night was thumping Bass until 04.00 , the double glazing did soften it a little but even with the ear plugs it was loud. Fortunately we are heavy sleepers but this wouldn’t be for everyone. Rooms were clean but compact with a maid visiting daily. Breakfast was ok with the same choice every day. The restaurant was also good and worth a visit with a 15% discount if your staying at the hotel. Without the loud music I would rate 4 stars.

The receptionist was very friendly. We got to the room and it was very clean. Nice size room and bathroom. Bathroom looked very modern. Great that it had shampoo, body wash, hand soap and hand cream. That was nice. The only thing is that the shower leakes soo bad. Slippers are provided but it’s a bit annoying. Also the noise from the club right opposite is so bad. No point getting a hotel if you can’t sleep until super late. We didn’t sleep the whole night. We booked over a month in advance. We asked if we can have a room at the back and they said they’re all taken. But we booked ages ago it would’ve been appreciated if they gave us a room that’s a bit quieter. My mum bless her was really struggling so was I. We don’t go clubbing so it was very bad.

The whole experience was great. We booked for our 3-day geatway. It's literally in the middle of the old city. The breakfast was great and there was always hot water. The room was very warm and well designed, even though it was very small. At night we could barely hear the voices from the outside, as soon as our room was at the back, so it's recommended for people who can't sleep well to ask for a less noisy room at the back. The staff was absolutely kind and charming.

Fantastic hotel right in the middle of old town Bucharest! Very warm and comfortable, bedding and towels changed daily.... staff were amazing and even gave us a bottle of Prosecco in our room to celebrate my partners birthday! Also get a discount at local bars for food if staying here!!!! Would highly recommend!!!!

Very loud surroundings and hard to sleep with the noise of music. Location is centric and a lot happening in the surroundings with restaurants and night life.

Lovely centrally located hotel. Friendly staff. Good sized room with comfortable bed and pillows. Tv with Netflix etc. good sized bathroom however the water in the shower was tepid at best and quite often cold. Breakfast was poor! Limited options and cold, dry eggs every day!! The cons were the hotel is on a ridiculously busy, noisy street! Not the fault of the hotel who try to of offset this by having really comfy beds and providing ear plugs. This is the strangest old town! Again, not the fault of the hotel. You walk out on to a street with bars and restaurants that’s full of touts who are constantly trying to get you to come in their bars. This is from 11am so even when you’re just sightseeing during the day… the touts will mither you to try to get you to come in when you’re just trying to head back to your hotel. Again, not the hotels fault. The hotel is also in between 3 ‘men only bars’. Which makes the area feel a bit seedy. The hotel and the staff are lovely however we wouldn’t stay here again for the reason outlined above.
