Holiday Inn Brownsville

I paid a crazy amount of money because this was a very busy weekend in Brownsville. And I am regretting that I stayed here out of loyalty to IHG. Never again! The staff in all fairness was very nice and helpful. The property though is in dire need of an updating even though it does seem that old. The landscaping is poorly maintained, the parking lot was an “ocean” with a clogged drain, the trash cans were overflowing. The staff assigned to breakfast just left the plates, etc on the tables after people left (and the breakfast was not worth having). But the worst was the room. The bathroom tub had mildew in it and HAIR (the worst kind of hair if you know what I mean). Water pressure not great. All the furniture was banged up. The walls and ceilings had shoddy water leak patches. The remote was dirty. The room had not been cleaned particularly well. Oh and every time someone slammed a door closed up and down the hallway you could hear it all throughout the night. If this was some cheap motel 6 where you only paid $50 to stay there it would be one thing. But to be a loyal IHG member staying here specifically for that reason and then to pay hundreds of dollars per night to stay here, the experience was awful and I expect better out of an IHG property. So bad that I will not ever go out of my way to stay “in brand” again.

This hotel didn’t even live up to its google 3.7 rating…shower water pressure was an issue but our main concern was the door to our room, it didn’t close securely, you could just push it in from the outside. It looks like someone tried to bust through before & they never properly fixed? We were lucky nobody noticed passing by and we didn’t get anything stolen?? The worst part of this experience is we notified the front desk that it needed to be fixed while we left for an event but it never was and apparently wasn’t important enough to address on the weekends, management was off and won’t worry about it till Monday, they try contacting me Tuesday…wtf!! Be warned, plenty of other options nearby around same price!

Hotel staff was incredibly helpful and kind. They had hot coffee in the morning and their breakfast was tasty. The workout room is available 24/7 and there is an outdoor pool as well. The hotel rooms are nice.

We went to a funeral nearby Texas Roadhouse and then ate at Texas Roadhouse, which is adjacent to the Holiday Inn. Our vehicle was towed away from their property. We had to pay 349 to get our vehicle back from a towing company. Immediately afterward, we decided to cancel our hotel reservations at all future Holiday Inn Hotels. A pretty shocking episode since it was twilight and there was nowhere else to park. We thought the vehicle was stolen but nearby people told us that it was towed away. After this horrible experience, we've decided to cancel three upcoming Holiday Inn stays.

Spacious rooms, very clean, house drinks are awesome! Great staff and great service. Jr was great at the front desk very kind and helpful. Alex's drinks were always great. We met Abraham and he was great, the team overall is amazing.

We had free nights to use so spent 3 nights at this location. Normally we stay at Hampton (which I must say is much superior). The young man checking us in was new & didn’t seem very well trained. The only room he could get us checked into was a handicapped room so we took it rather than waiting. He did not inform us there was no daily housekeeping & there was no info in the room indicating this. There is no free breakfast (even though it is indicated in description) or even coffe in the lobby. The womens restroom in lobby had trash overflowing at 4:30 in afternoon & no paper towels. It obviously had not been cleaned that day. The remote would not work even though they replaced the batteries. Had to ask for clean towels each day & was told no hand towels were available because laundry wasn’t done - ar 5:00 pm. Either Holiday Inn standards have been lowered or they just don’t care. Will not stay here again, even if it is free.
