Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa

Check in less than friendly and no help given to find room or take bags. Allocated room small and bathroom (shower over bath only ) had excessive mould. Asked to speak with Duty manager who was very helpful and new room with walk in shower allocated. Better certainly but given the price the room was small and the tiny cheap wardrobe didn’t fit at all. Inevitably stress levels heightened by these events when the whole purpose was a stress free break.

Please Note - do not get to the hotel early expecting to have access to the pool. Make sure you do not get Room 16! Firstly - I was disappointed that we could not use the pool facilities when we arrived around 1.30. We were told, ‘due to the establishments pool size and number of customers currently using the facilities. We would get access however, once our room was ready’ - so did this mean that when our room became available, two people were told to leave the pool - should of asked the question, but didn’t think at the time. Secondly - ‘Room with a view’ we most certainly did not get. The broken plant pots did not have the desired effect of hiding the air-con units either. They should have kept ROOM 16, as a store area, thus two people less to take up room in the pool/spa Good point - Cambium restaurant was delicious! Unfortunately, will not be going back and will not recommend - shame, as a great location.

We had a party of 14 to celebrate my birthday on Sunday and we came for lunch. The experience was brilliant. The service was very attentive, despite all the different requests, the food was excellent and the ambience of the restaurant very welcoming. This was the in the Cambium restaurant. Thank you to making my celebrations very special.

A truly brilliant hotel. The staff are warm and welcoming, especially Bruno and Diane on reception. The room was cosy and luxurious. The restaurant is top notch, with excellent ingredients and very well presented dishes. To top it off the spa is simply the best I've been to. The treatments are brilliant and so many options and rooms available to use. Do not miss the Hydrotherapy Experiences, really the highlight of our stay.

Stayed for the first time in October at the hotel for a late wedding anniversary and early birthday celebration, booked the suite number 1 the roof top suite nice size suite but cold asked the reception to turn on the heating which they did, 11 37 the radiator started banging which lasted about 5 minutes, at 12.05 started again but louder than the first time I had to turn it off to stop the noise, towel rail was off when I turned it on it started to leak rusty water in the shower tray, not to impressed at all, paid £295 a night for the room, a bit surprised when I had to pay extra for a cooked breakfast which I would have expected to be included at that price, on the upside the French restaurant was fabulous, but don't think we would hurry back

The hotel is beautiful with lots of character. My wife has Coeliac disease and the restaurant and all staff were very supportive and provided excellent choice. They provided great reassurance to my wife. We had Sunday lunch, which was wonderful with very generous portions and also the Continental breakfast. The room was very comfortable and a generous size, there is a small balcony but due to the weather we did not access this. The Spa was a great bonus. I enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and steam room but did not pay the extra sum to use the other spa facilities. Overall this was our first visit and I do not think it will be our last. Thank you to all the team for making our visit so enjoyable.

I cannot thank Careys Manor enough for our amazing wedding day, they did an absolutely brilliant job. The staff were all so helpful and supportive, they went above and beyond. The food was out of this world, the ceremony and evening reception were superb. Many of our guests commented on what a brilliant day they had (and some of them are not easy people to please!). We will definitely be returning for a stay and spa day. I cannot praise them enough, thankyou so much for making our special day even more special.

Such a disappointment having visited a number of times over the years where past experiences have been really positive. It is clearly under new management where customer service and those ‘extra touches’ are less important than they used to be. We came for a ‘big birthday’ celebration that the hotel were aware of but minus a tiny packet of very average chocolate, nothing else was mentioned. On arrival, reception was unattended with multiple staff in the back room - it took a number of minutes and another passing staff member to be seen. The welcome was lukewarm warm at best, and this set the tone for the stay. The £78 for the hydrotherapy room (for just 2 hours!) was a total waste of money, hugely overpriced compared to the facilities of other spas in the South East. Leaving pool cleaning equipment around the pool just looked lazy, rusty light fittings, peeling ceilings…investment is needed. Credit where credit is due, the Thai restaurant was fantastic. Brilliant service, excellent food, would absolutely recommend. We stayed in the best suite in the hotel (room 2) and this had such potential but we entered the room and it smelt musty and just felt a bit tired. We were perhaps most disappointed by breakfast! Having stayed before on a couple of occasions, the breakfast had always been memorable and excellent quality. Sadly, there is now just a small continental breakfast with anything else payable. This felt like penny-pinching on the hotel’s part and other guests seemed to unanimously agree. It may well have been very nice but we didn’t try the cooked options as we felt too aggrieved to pay any more. On check out, we tried to feed some of this back to the reception staff (while there were other staff sat in the back office doing very little) and this totally fell upon deaf ears. Another man checking out at the same time also fed back similar concerns and disappointment but there was no acknowledgment or attempt from management to discuss with us. It is such a shame to see what was a lovely New Forrest escape seem to drop its standards and allow itself to become a decidedly average retreat.

Had the best weekend break! We had lunch in the French restaurant followed by the spa and a long massage. Loved the shower experiences and hydro pool. Dinner was in the Thai restaurant which was to die for, so yummy. We stayed in room 4 in the main Manor House and the room was beautiful. Two bathrooms, a lounge and bedroom. It was stunning. Breakfast was fab too, the continental had so much to offer and I also ordered the eggs royale which were delicious. You must try the Portuguese tarts at breakfast, delicious and naughty. I stay in hotels around the world and I have to say I was super impressed with this one. Staff very attentive too, no faults at all from us.
