My husband and I and another couple just spent 2 perfect nights at Dreamhouse Country Inn. Steve welcomed us just as we drove in, picked up 2 of our bags and we headed into the lovely, comfortable, clean home that was ours for the next 2 days. Sue greeted us soon after and gave us tour of the house and our rooms. Everything is spotless and the bed linens are all a very beautiful cotton. Our bathroom was lovely with a shower that offered ecological holders of shampoo, conditioner and liquid body soap. The towels are thick and absorbent. They have thought of everything anyone might need. The wifi is excellent as well. There is a living room for guests with very comfortable sofas and chairs and an area devoted to Keurig coffee/hot chocolate, Kind bars, and a fridge filled with water and soda and seltzer (and a pitcher of cream for my pre-dawn coffee), plus a bowl of chocolates in the living room. Breakfast was absolutely delicious- the most incredibly tender and not too sweet maple scones the first morning, which preceded a perfectly prepared omelette with cheddar cheese and spinach, which could be modified to your tastes. A yogurt and fresh strawberry parfait preceded the omelette. Fresh fruit was beautifully placed on the plate as well. The second breakfast was orange hinted French toast made with a baguette and local maple syrup with sweet fresh pineapple and strawberries. Blueberry crumb muffins were also offered and which Sue put into bags for us to take with us. Tea and coffee were available as well. Sue and Steve were present in the best of ways- offering info when asked, telling stories as we talked on the porch. (Even the porch furniture is extremely comfortable.) They never imposed themselves, but were always available. We rarely have extended conversations with B+B owners, but could have stayed and talked for hours with Sue and Steve. We are hoping to come back next year with a French friend of ours who is the queen of hospitality and she will feel quite at home! A million thanks to Sue and Steve. We went on early morning walks down their road and spent some time in Bristol going into some appealing art, book, and specialty shops. Bristol is 15 minutes from Middlebury and 15-20 minutes from Vergennes. We drove to Mt. Philo for a hike up the mountain (moderate) and spent our last day at the Shelburne Museum- beautiful property with historic buildings and art museums.
