La Genzianella Bormio

The warm, high end/quality rooms and hotel are only bettered by the staff and family that look after you during your stay. We were always greeted with a smile and genuine interest to make our stay the best it could be. The new spa facility for guests is an incredible way to relax and unwind after a day of activity and there's a reason that the hotel restaurant is rated one of the best in Bormio. Fantastic genuine Italian cuisine in abundance! It's a short 5 minute walk to the ski hire and gondola, 10 minutes into the town centre, with views of the ski fields and mountain. We've been in both, summer and winter, and both seasons allow the town and hotel to shine. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay over the New Year 24/25. The hotel and staff were always warm and welcoming. We took the half board option and the food was always delicious with a small but excellent range of options. Would definitely recommend and return.

Here’s your updated review: We have now stayed at Hotel La Genzianella for the second time, and once again, we are nothing short of satisfied. This is truly one of the best family-owned hotels we’ve ever visited—and we’ve traveled extensively, from Hawaii to Bangkok and across most of Europe’s ski resorts. The hotel is impeccably managed by Wilma and her outstanding team, whose teamwork and attention to detail shine through in every aspect. As guests, we felt warmly welcomed and instantly at home. The hotel offers a range of activities, including yoga and Pilates, which added a wonderful touch to our stay. Its location is unbeatable—right in front of the slopes. We even had the pleasure of watching the alpine team practice in the mornings. The nearby ski rental made everything so convenient and hassle-free. The newly renovated spa is elegant, tranquil, and beautifully designed, offering the perfect place to unwind. The restaurant is exceptional, with food and service that are nothing short of spectacular. Some of our friends even come to the restaurant just for dinner in the evenings—it’s that good. The breakfast was excellent, with a great selection and very good coffee to start the day right. We already look forward to returning. Highly recommended!

An overall 5 star experience. The attention to detail in every aspect of this hotel is impeccable. This is a family run business and there is always an owner (and often more) present at the hotel ensuring that the highest level of service is delivered. The food was fresh and delicious with many salad bar and dessert options. Local wines are offered so be sure to support the local wineries. The rooms were clean, cozy and comfortable. The grounds, building, furniture and finishes were lovingly maintained an everything felt so perfect. We stayed in unit 101 and loved the deck and the views and the easy stair access from the ground floor. The breakfasts were outstanding and there are 2 coffee machines so you don't have to wait around for people to get their coffees which I appreciated. Be sure to partake of the local butter selections and the jams. Yum! This hotel caters to cyclists and I was there with a group of cyclists. There is a fantastic locked bike room to keep your bike babies safe along with all types of tools to fix your bike and a hose to wash it. There is even a kit washing service daily so you can have clean kits from the epic bike rides around Bormio. Your riding mates will appreciate that. Other subtle details are scent machines in different corners that make the lobby smell amazing. The spa is new and gorgeous - I loved the dry sauna while my husband sat in the steam room. There is also a room where you can stretch or workout. We got massages while there and the therapist was certainly trained on how to massage sore cyclist legs. The lawn is perfect and I spent hours sitting outside in the sun. Maybe the best part was the staff who were the most hardworking and dedicated hospitality staff I have ever experienced. Patricia kept my wine orders coming and the rest of the staff (whose names I negligently didn't get) anticipated our every need and were kind and gracious. You never felt like you were bothering anyone with a request - they were so happy to help. I can't wait to go back to Bormio (love that town) and this is where I would stay again and again.
