Zanhotel Regina is a good choice for exploring Bologna, located on the main shopping street, Via dell’Indipendenza, and within walking distance under covered porticos (great during bad weather) to Piazza Maggiore (12 min), the towers Garisenda & Asinelli (12 min), and to Bologna Centrale train station (15 min) - useful for day trips to Modena, Parma, or Ravenna. There’s also a taxi stand outside the hotel entrance if transportation is needed. A McDonalds is next door if that’s of interest for families, but good local restaurants, trattorias, osterias and bistros are easily found along the nearby streets. Be warned that rooms are small with barely any extra space around the bed with a small open closet and small writing table and stool while the bathroom has a small shower. Air-conditioning worked well and was a welcome relief after a hot day out on tour. The breakfast buffet had a good but basic assortment of items. It’s not fancy but I found the Regina to be a good base for exploring Bologna or day trips by train to other nearby cities in Emilia-Romagna.

The Regina is a budget friendly hotel near the university area in Bologna. There are plenty of restaurants and bars, and you're only a short walk from the major squares. The staff is friendly and outgoing. The rooms are as pictured, likely night how you might decorate your home, but it is clean and housekeeping is amazing. Bologna is a wonderful city to explore and the Regina is in a great location to do that from. If you're going for the opera, the venues (the Manzoni and the Teatro Comunale are both a five minute walk. If you arrive by train, the central station is a 10 minute almost direct walk.

Thank you Trip Advisor. We happily spent 2 nights in Bologna at Zanhotel Regina.We opted for the studio apt around the corner from the hotel.Very clean and comfortable unit. Loved the spacious shower. The best things about the hotel are the location and the wonderful front desk staff. Gracie to Giacomo, Tomasso and Max who patiently provided maps, walking directions and great recommendations for breakfast cafes and wonderful choices for aperitivo. We would definitely stay here if we visit Bologna again!.

Very efficient check in. Our room was ready when we arrived at 11am. Very spacious room and extremely clean. Although on a very busy road, the room was quiet. Hotel is a short 5 minute walk to the city centre. What lets this hotel down is the breakfast area. Very basic with cheap chairs and tables, very drab. If not down early, the food ran out and was not replenished.

The room was average. But the Air Con wasn’t working and the staff at reception weren’t that helpful. There were no working English channels to watch on the TV. Breakfast was average with a basic enough selection. The hotel was well situated between the train station and the main square.

ZenHotels is purely a FAKE Hotel booking site. Its really a cheating site, taking all our money. BE CAREFUL. Here is my story. I booked a resort stay (Morpho resorts in Badami, Karnataka, India) through ZenHotels. When I went to the resort, there was no booking available. The resort never tied up with ZenHotels. I had to book again and pay for my stay. I tried calling ZenHotels support number. It got connected to Cyprus country. The support guy (Andrew) took all the details like booking id, amount paid etc. However, he didnt want to reveal any information and disconnected the call. Till now, no response in spite of reaching out multiple time. Finally, I didnt get any mail / communication further about my booking / payment. Its really a cheating site, taking all our money. BE CAREFUL.

Recently traveled and stayed 3 nights here with our two children ages 12 and 9. They put us in a suite so the kids had their own room (not with a door -but still had their own space) which was nice. The room was clean and during the heatwave that we were having, the air conditioning was wonderful! It worked very well and we are from Florida so we KNOW good AC. The front desk was lovely. Walk to old town was easy as well as to the train station. The breakfast was simple but lovely. This is not a luxury hotel but bathroom is updated. No real toiletries are provided for those who like separate shampoo and conditioner and had soap. That would be my only complaint. Otherwise it was a very nice experience. I would def recommend!

This was our second trip to Bologna from Australia, we booked a Double Room for 6 nights. Our breakfast was included in the price of the room we booked. This hotel offers a wonderful breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausages. Also the usual cheeses & cold cuts along with fruit juices, yogurts and cereals. Our room was comfortable, and the double glazing was great as our room faced the front over the street although set back from the street. The staff were helpful and polite. We would certainly stay again.

Great stay! Upon arrival, we were upgraded to the apartments. Though you didn't go through the main entrance to the hotel and had to walk around to the side of the building to enter, we did not have a problem with this and loved the spacious modern room. The market outside was going on when we arrived which got set up and torn down each day. We were able to leave our luggage at the front desk after checking out which was very nice as we had to leave early for a tour!
