Hotel Istankoy Bodrum

Our first stay in Turkey and at the Istankoy. Couldn’t fault it. The location was central to absolutely everything in Bodrum, literally a two minute walk to the sea front. The hotel facilities were great, our room was spotless. We had a room overlooking the pool and bar but didn’t find it too overpowering or loud. Everyone at the hotel was super friendly and a special shout out to Hassan entertaining us with Bingo bongo and Okie dokie karaoke throughout the week. We were not too bothered about getting a sun lounger around the pool (most of the week towels were put out the evening before) but again, this didn’t personally bother us. There was lots of room upstairs and in the bar area. Overall, a fantastic week. I can see why people come back year after year!

From start to finish, Hasan and the boys couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. Very reasonably priced with good food and good entertainment. Okey dokey karaoke and bongo bingo were highlights. Nice room and general facilities and a lovely pool. Would 100% recommend and will visit again if I am in Bodrum.

2nd time at this hotel first time was in August 2023. Travelled with my 9 year old son. Despite him not having any kids to play with, the other hotel guests made him feel welcome and often played with him in the pool. Other guest were friendly and we got on with the majority. Hotel staff friendly and efficient. Had issues with my first room but they moved me same day. And I’d paid tui late check out but they had no record I contacted tui and tui spoke to the manager who rectified the issue within two hours. My son spent the majority of the time in the pool he enjoyed the entertainment especially hassans bingo bongo. One of the workers I think Hüseyin is his name was great always acknowledged him and made him feel special. Thank you for another great holiday. Location is fab so close to restaurants shops and the beach. Bus station 10 min walk too.

The hotel is in an excellent location, five minutes walk to the beach and restaurants, and handy for the shops. Ten minutes walk to the bus station and market, and ten minutes to the castle and the marina. Our room was lovely, obviously recently refurbished, with a very modern bathroom and free air-con ( in November, anyway) Our room faced the pool, which we didn’t use - there were very limited areas in the sun so we just used the beach. It would have been perfect in summer for shade, as the pool is surrounded by buildings, but then I think availability would be the problem! Excellent choice for breakfast, with omelettes to order - I never asked if menemem was possible but I should have! Only problem in November was a lack of sun so we generally ate inside. We actually ate out for breakfast for the last 3 days as we found a lovely council run restaurant where we could eat cheaply on the beach in the sun - not because of the quality of breakfast at the hotel, just for the temperature and the view. We didn’t try any other meals. Comfy bed but we had to ask for a second duvet; a double bed with a duvet exactly the same size was no good, but getting a second one wasn’t a problem. I have a feeling we wouldn’t like the hotel in summer due to noise, but late in the season there was no entertainment, which was perfect. No noise! We loved the parrot! We will certainly return out of season.

Stayed 11 nights at this hotel and after reading some of the reviews we were a little dubious....So, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Quick check in then shown to our room, we didn't accept the first room as I am not good with stairs. Second room was really small but we coped for the first night then we moved rooms. Our final room was clean and functional, but again really small. Good well stocked mini bar. Room cleaned every day with fresh towels. Staff all lovely and accommodating especially bar staff, Hassan, Ali and I think Ahmed, they literally could not do enough for you, they were obliging, entertaining and keeping us topped up!" Shake em up" Food was ok, reasonably priced. Drinks all good and again reasonably priced. Brilliant location for all your needs, small stroll to the beach where they have another bar which you get discount as guests of there hotel. We will definitely be returning next September but will ask for larger room.....

The best part of this hotel is its location apart from that nothing else I am afraid. This is a tired looking hotel and needs a lot of attention, the rooms are very dated and old you have to pay for the safe, iron and air conditioning nothing is thrown in. The cleaning is very poor our room was not cleaned regularly despite my reminders and the drains were blocked. The worst thing about this hotel was the bar is open until 2 pm and if you have a room near the bar you will not be able to sleep and if you want a quieter room you have to pay. I will not be returning!
