Courtyard Altoona

It was my birthday weekend and it was my first time also in Pennsylvania, and I love that. I had fun, the hotel was clean it had nice bars, the rooms were nice and I really enjoyed it. It was a nice area to just relax and Lounge even outside. The front desk clerks were nice and helpful.

We accidentally booked for the night before through Hotwire, and even though no one came for the room, they would not transfer it to the night we did get there. We had to pay again, plus $50 more. In all, we paid about $250 for probably the worst hotel room we've ever had. The carpet, tile work, and furniture were outdated, dirty, stained, and beat up. The beds had visible dips in them, and for the first time I had a bad hotel mattress experience. The room door was crooked and you could see right out to the hall through the crack, and hear everything going on outside. The whole place felt like there had been an earthquake at some time, and things had shifted. There was no continental breakfast and no free coffee in the lobby. Also no microwave in the room and only a tiny cube of a refrigerator. We will never book this hotel again! Do not be deceived by any nice looking room or lobby pictures displayed here. There are far too many people who have experienced the same that we did.

I have stayed here several time in conjunction with an event at the conference center. At my most recent stay, Tami at the front desk was very helpful and personable. The rooms could use an updating, but I spent so little time there, it is not a significant issue. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. All I ask for.

You get what you pay for. General lack of amenities. Cheap rate, clean, but barebones. No maid service one day; ice maker broken; no pool; vending machines for food except for "bistro" with short menu of premade offerings when available. Pleasant front desk personnel.

Bed is garbage. Exterior balcony door leaks air all night. Oh ya and don’t bother trying for coffee in the morning. I mean unless you feel like paying for a cup. Not complimentary coffee breakfast or service for that matter. Never staying again

I could see fall colors from the balcony of my room. It was spectacular with the city of Altoona visible at the foothills. The hotel is connected to a convention center and there is an indoor passageway to connect to it. Rooms were clean, reception was friendly, staff was good. They have a restaurant/bar in the lobby area. This hotel seems to cater to convention center guests. The city of Altoona is a good few miles away. You need a car to go to restaurants and shopping. The hotel sits on a hill and the views are spectacular from here.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in October 2022. We are very loyal to Marriott and have logged lots of time in other Courtyards. We love the predictability of these hotels, particularly the nice lobby/lounge area where you can grab a quick coffee and just hang out. But, on the whole, this particular Courtyard was subpar. First: what was good... From the front desk to the cafe, the people who work here were standouts. They truly exemplified customer service excellence (not just with us but also with all the other guests we observed while hanging in the lounge). The staff are huge assets to the hotel. Also, the hotel's location is quite convenient for getting to a variety of restaurants and shopping. Now: what's not so good... The physical plant needs a major refresh/overhaul. Just about everything in there is worn, dirty, outdated, and/or "tired." Our room was comfortable and well located but reeked of dampness and mildew. It just didn't feel clean OR up to snuff for this brand. The bathroom needs to be redone and the furniture and flooring all needs to be replaced.

Reserved a room here because we like the in-hotel Bistro concept at Courtyards. Unfortunately this hotel needs major updating. We went to our first room assigned to us and in had a distinct musty/stale smoke smell. We requested another room, and it was the same. After a third room also stunk, we cancelled the reservation and went to another hotel. Front desk personnel tried to be helpful, but what could they do? The rooms are in desperate need of updates. Look somewhere else until the rooms are updated. There are plenty of choices in Altoona.
