Maes Manor Country Hotel

We attended the Maes Manor Hotel for Christmas Lunch. We haven’t been there for about 6 years because of a bad experience. We had heard that it been under new management for a number of years. A large number of our friends who have visited the hotel for weddings, Sunday lunches has said the food and the staff are fantastic! We decided to give it a go what can I say it was simply Amazing! The hotel was decorated beautifully we had the festive feel immediately we were greeted by two lovely young members of staff with canopies and a glass of sparkling wine and directed to the cocktail bar and stood by a cozy lit traditional fire. The lunch and service went way above our expectations everything was cooked perfectly! I never felt the need to leave reviews in the past but on this occasion I felt I needed to, well done everyone we are already looking to book for next year. Highly recommended!

Another fabulous Christmas Day lunch perfectly executed by Mike and his great team all of whom are an absolute credit to this wonderful hotel. A lovely welcome at the entrance (sorry I forgot the young man’s name) then into the cosy lounge for a pre lunch drink/canapés served by the most polite young staff we have ever come across. Then onto a welcome bubbles (or Buck’s Fizz) before going into the restaurant. Larger groups are seated into the equally stunning ballroom. Had a near perfect lunch (only loses a point due to the fact I was so full!). Just the right amount of time between courses and a wonderful touch by Mike the manager going from table to table to make sure we had everything we needed. We wanted to stay longer for coffee but had commitments elsewhere. The Manor is beautifully decorated at Christmas! We have also stayed overnight at the Manor and have thoroughly enjoyed each stay. As we live local we will be visiting regularly next year. Mike, you and your staff are an absolute credit to the hotel and a huge thank you once again.

Went for the only murs christmas night with a large group of friends. Our room (22) was on the very top floor as we went through the door to the top floor it was like walking outside absolutely freezing up there no radiators working went into the room no radiator working in the room either. None of the radiators on the floor were working. Reported to reception and was told it would be looked at. The room itself to say it was tired is an understatement when you are being charged almost 100 for 1 nights stay is disgusting. Marks and cracks all over the walls the carpet very very old stinking dirty sticky and worn out. The bed may as well not been there, the mattress had springs almost poking out everywhere think it would of been more comfortable to sleep on a wall. The shower had more mould in it than the outside walls. After a few hours I Complained again about the heating........ in total it took 6 hours and 4 complaints and they still couldn't rectify the problem. A small heater was supplied to at least get some warmth in there unbehold to me when you lie in bed the draft from under the door which has gaps which are huge underneath . A friend of ours whose rooms was number 22 his heater never worked he had to stay fully clothed in bed to try and keep warm as soon as he was able to drive he got up and left. We were charged 10 each for breakfast, it used to be buffet style but now has changed, limited choice I do not like a full breakfast so had to have poached egg on toast which consisted of 1 piece of toast and 2 eggs which I am sorry doesn't cost 10 pound even a full breakfast at 10 is pushing it. We left feeling feeling very tired,dirty, and very unhappy about our experience. This hotel is in desperate need to be renovated. We will not stay or return here again.

Had a wonderful time with family The meal was lovely could have done with more rolls and veg but it was still filling. Amd staff were accommodating. Staff worked really hard to make it SPECIAL well done to all. Olly murs tribute act was brilliant and made the night. Thank you to the manager the wine was a touch of class. Will see you next year from Wendy and table number 11.

Last night we attended the Beyoncé night and Mike & the team treated us like royalty! They really couldn’t have done anymore for us! ALL 3 courses were PERFECT & extremely tasty! The turkey dinner was especially amazing & certainly plentiful! The tribute act was AMAZING! and we certainly carried on the night afterwards at the disco! Make sure you get booking for your Xmas work dos, occasions or just for a boogie😉 You certainly won’t regret it & will be guaranteed a FABULOUS evening!

Room was very tired and right above the kitchen with the fan on from 6:20am to 10:30pm. Food was tasty and plentiful. Staff lovely. Views fantastic. Just a shame such a beautiful building is so run down. However, for the price it was ok. If renovations were done, I’m guessing the price would double.
