Oak Lea Hotel

Arrived here Friday evening and we were greeted by a pleasant man who checked us in. Our room was very dated curtains falling down and wouldn’t close properly.Room was spacious and warm, heating was on but it was to hot ,bed was comfy and bedding was clean. Shower was hit and miss couldn’t get a decent temperature. Went downstairs to the basement bar just missed the entertainment. massive space with so much potential but just a mess, with stuff lying around all over, sheets hung to hide part of the room toilets dirty and mouldy. Saturday night I was woken at 3am by a male voice talking to a lady in a vile manner outside our room door, this was then followed by banging on doors and voices shouting to be let in to their rooms, doors continually being opened and closed loudly, when that stopped I could still hear a female in the hall way I then heard a key being put in to our door and the handle was tried a few times but I was to frightened to open the door to see what was going on, so I put the chair behind the door and shouted “wrong door” in the hope they would go away and it worked I couldn’t sleep after that. On leaving the hotel we took the stairs and there was a fold up bed on the landing with stained bedding on the floor next to it along with a sanitary pad. When I went to reception I explained to the lady about the events in the early hours she apologised and then told me that there were numbers on the wall to use incase of an emergency! Why weren’t we told this on arrival??? She wasn’t interested. Walking out the front door to leave and my son nearly stood in sick that someone had kindly left right outside the front door! Will definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone and we will definitely never return!!

Avoid this hotel at all cost. I write this review based on my elderly parents stay here over New Year with a coach trip with their consent. Complained to hotel after finding bed bugs in the room and when they developed severe bites were basically brushed off by management. Food was sub standard and service was terrible. Only 2 waiters catering to a full hotel. Ended up with neither of them having breakfast on the last day as they kept forgetting about them.

Excellent Hotel – room very comfortable, has all the facilities that you need. There was one outstanding feature – of all the hotels I’ve stayed in in all of the countries that I visited, this hotel had the BEST TOWELS. - Amazing quality. I would not hesitate to stay here again
