Courtyard Biel/Bienne

Location is ok, but during winter time still quite cold to walk to train station. Overall is a very new hotel, staff is friendly.

Stayed here to visit a friend and to participate in the Biel/Bienne Carnival also known as Fasnacht. Leo who handled our check-in was very efficient and a delight to work with; we had reserved two rooms. The Courtyard is very nicely decorated, very clean and has a nice restaurant. I was very happy with my upgrade to a deluxe room which had a balcony. It was a very spacious room and I loved the USB C plug ins and the portable make up mirror in the bathroom. Lots of closet space to hang or fold clothes. Price of the hotel stay was very reasonable. The location of the hotel is easy walking distance to the old town and to the train station. Very convenient location. We used the train station to visit nearby Twann (wine tasting) and Bern (they also had a carnival). Breakfast every morning was great. Nice buffet style, good selection of delicious food with plenty of comfortable seating. We had a drink one night at the bar – also very nice and quiet. My friend had a car which was difficult to find hotel parking as there are just 5 or 6 spots. He has an invalid parking sticker, but that spot was taken by a non-invalid plated car. We should have mentioned this on the first night but did not. On checkout we mentioned this issue to Leo who apologized and said he would ask that hotel monitor that spot more regularly. Again, we should have mentioned it the first night. As is with many hotels in Switzerland, it is somewhat difficult to control the thermostat in the room. While it was March, we were fortunate to experience sunny, warm days. My room had a window and balcony which allowed me at night to remain cool with the windows open. The only negative was that my balcony faced the “Chessu – Couple” which seems to be some sort of night club and appears to be open from 11PM to 6AM. I can’t blame the Courtyard for this building and its hours – hoping that the city of Biel/Bienne takes a closer look at limiting the hours to just 2AM. On Friday & Saturday night I had to close my windows due to people talking outside of the Chessu and the thumping noise of music. With windows closed the noise wasn’t so bad. Really enjoyed my stay at the Courtyard Biel/Bienne and recommend it as a great hotel. Merci Courtyard!

Good stay. Hotel is modern, clean and nice with good amenities. Staff was efficient at checkin. Price of the stay was reasonable. We were able to park on site but it’s 6 lots at the back of the hotel. It’s a little confusing to get to the 1st time so u may want to check before arriving.

We took this property as base to travel to different places like Lauter etc that’s like 2 hrs drive . Checked in around 5 PM . It was a very hot day & the AC will not move from 26 degree down . Thermostat is complex :) After many trials a staff arrived ( This young man was very nice ). But the temperature won’t go down . After 6 hrs at 11 we were adviced to open the balcony door That was not ok as smoke smell & noise from road was horrible & some insects like bees , wasp etc came in . Around 12 hotel said we can try another room. We have a disabled kid . So middle of night we went to one floor up . No luck . Some how spend the night in that room . Again back to old room. All of us got sick from the heat & sweat , sore throat . Couldn’t go any where as tired from heat and no sleep . Lost 1 day of vacation :(.weekends no mechanic to check AC it seems & they say Europe AC is like this it won’t go below 24 C . We had same experience in Strasbourg Marriott too . Two more days with a table fan we had to adjust , hotel reception say many people from usa & gulf complain about heat but hotel management can’t help It. That’s not good !!! Breakfast started boring the first day but then around 10 am chefs came in and put some good pastries outside . Bed is very good

This is a review of the Courtyard's restaurant Bluma - not the hotel. We were a group of 9 people who had lunch at the hotel's restaurant yesterday. The restaurant has a rather nice selection of smaller dishes (a tasting menu) from around the world (e.g. quesadillas, Bao buns, falafels, etc.). The idea is that you order 2-3 items and, if possible, share dishes at your table. In general, a nice concept and a nice looking restaurant. My issues with the restaurant: - COSTS: the costs are high, especially when going for lunch. The dishes cost from CHF 14.50 - 22.50 and a liter of water cost CHF 12. So, you are easily spending close to CHF 40 per person, assuming you only get 2 dishes. As some of the dishes were really very small, many of us needed 3 dishes. This is a very expensive restaurant, even for Switzerland. - SERVICE (1): the restaurant was empty except for our group (perhaps because of the cost issue above?). We all ordered fairly quickly, but the dishes came out staggered over the next 70 minutes. As I only ordered one dish, I sat there watching everyone else eat as mine (the Goan beef curry) came out last. Why would it take well over an hour to get all the food prepared? There was no one else in the place! And, one of the steak dishes was forgotten and had to be re-ordered, so we had a rather hungry teenage boy for awhile. - SERVICE (2): the wait staff did not understand even basic German, you had to speak French (preferable) or English with them. - SERVICE (3): we asked for separate bills by family which would have meant 5 separate receipts for our group. As the restaurant was completely empty, it should really not have been a problem. Yet, we still received one bill at the end and it was quite difficult to separate. Anyway, I hope the hotel F & B management is reading their reviews and does something to fix their cost and service issues. Again, the concept of a tasting menu is interesting and the reason we selected your restaurant. Consider offering a special lunch menu & price and please do look at the service issues.
