La Valletta Relais

A really beautiful, relaxing and friendly hotel. Jacko, Gratsielle and Mario made our stay so enjoyable and were always available. Room was lovely and breakfast so good to have on the outside terrace. Relaxing with a glass of wine and listening to the sounds of the valley was just so nice. A great host family run hotel in the countryside above the old town by of Bergamo.

Really nice hotel, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, very accommodating booking a restaurant for us at short notice the day we arrived and always very cheerful. The shuttle service from the hotel to the old town was useful, and the walk was also quite easy and only about 20 minutes (but on a narrow road). Breakfast was delicious, lots of good juice options! Really enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we went back to Bergamo. Also picked us up from the train station and dropped us off at the airport for a reasonable price.

Wonderful, family run friendly hotel. Thanks to the free shuttle service, easy to reach even if you do not have a car. Rooms were nicer in reality than on the pictures. We would come again. Also free parking, should you need it. Good, fresh breakfast, fair prices for drinks and beautiful environment.

We were welcomed like family by Mario, his wife and son . Mario and his family care greatly for guests and nothing was too much trouble. Make sure when staying to try some of Mario’s fantastic wine . The breakfast was lovely , great coffee , pastries , eggs , bacon . Fresh orange and apple juice. Mario booked us lunch in the restaurant near his hotel which was very authentic and real Italian food.

A lovely first night of our Italian holiday. A very peaceful rural spot but an easy walk into the old town. Bergamo really exceeded our expectations. We had a family suite with bonus of our own terrace and a very welcome minibar. Lovely breakfast on a covered terrace. Would love to return. Friendly helpful welcome and followed their recommendation for a restaurant for the evening.

A wonderfully relaxing start to our holiday. Bergamo airport is so easy to transit and the owner of the hotel,Mario,met us at Arrivals and took us to La Valetta directly in a very comfortable people carrier for 30 euro. Great value and stress free, particularly if you have heavy luggage. The hotel is a lovely villa overlooking a valley and a five minute drive to the old town. There are three scheduled free return journeys into town each day or you can pay 5 euro and go into town at a time of your choosing. We had a standard room which is small but very comfortable and has a well appointed bathroom. Both the bedroom and bathroom had large windows with lovely views across and down the valley. The breakfasts were excellent. A wide selection of continental breakfast items and limitless hot coffee. The bacon and egg is not in the English style , just so you know. We had breakfast on the terrace both mornings and took our time. We spent our afternoons in the old town where we ate and sat out on the terrace each evening with a lovely bottle of Valpollicella Ripasso at a very reasonable price. The trattoria nearby is not open on Monday and Tuesday evenings so factor that in. If you are looking for a place to enjoy the nightlife of Bergamo, then this hotel is probably not ideal. But if you are looking for a relaxing break with the most helpful of hosts, then this is the place for you. We look forward to returning soon, PG! Many thanks,Mario and family. Seán
