I just love everything! Short stay as we arrived late also, and we check out early morning before 0800. The only thing my room the water heater is not functioning and we are too exhausted. Managed to get bath with the cold water 🫠

We came to this hotel on night and everything have been prepared for us. We enter to the room straightaway and prepare to sleep. Book two standard hotel since we have 5 people. Even though its cheap, but we have a great stay to rest. There are hot water in the toilet room. There are no fan and a/c because the room already so cold.

Perfect place for Berastagi. The rooms are very simple but good enough (clean, hot water, fresh bottles of water all the time). The owner Erwin really made our trip worth it! The most pleasant and welcoming feeling we had so far in Indonesia. I can recommend do a hiking trip with Erwin to Sibayak and the hot springs. The next day he brought us to Parapat himself. Thanks Erwin!

Arrived 3pm - not much people in the hotel. Cleaning ladies gave us the keys. Room very basic as expected but that's not even the point - just to note hot water not working and it is very basic. We wanted to book volcano tour but owner was not there. Booked through trip advisor. Owner came back 6 pm, and became completely furious we did not book through him. Literally asked us to leave and kicked us out of the room for no reason, on a rainy night, on reason that we did not book through him. Took his word, packed and asked for refund that he did not want to give back. Therefore we stayed , whatsoever. Great experience overall for who love to be treated super badly like an outlaw and can be kicked out for absolutely no reason. Apart from that volcano tour is great.

Tired accommodation and ramshackle building, as well as fairly dirty breakfast area and very average breakfast. Staff are friendly enough, but very keen to push tours for the volcano walk (which are totally unnecessary- east to follow path). Better options elsewhere in Beristagi.

We came to Sapo Karo coincidentally, spent only one night at the hotel but can only highly recommend to stay there. The rooms are simple but we found ours clean, quiet and with a hot shower. What made our stay extraordinary was Edwin, the care taker of the hotel and aside from that our guide to Mt Sibayak in the morning. It was really extraordinary how much time he took to show us around: first to Mt Sibayak and the hot springs, then the northern shore of Lake Toba and afterwards even back to get our flight in Medan in the evening. During our time in Indonesia we hardly found a more friendly, authentic and caring guide who we dont even met as a guide but as an inspiring and beautiful human being with the best conversations and a lovely sense of humor. Thank you Edwin, it was a pleasure for us and we will be back at Sapo Karo when we are hopefully visiting Sumatra again soon! Linda and Patrick

Terrible experience. The rooms were very dirty and we even had a lot of cockroaches in the room and bathroom. When we told the owner of the hotel, he didn’t care and didn’t want to compensate anything. We couldn’t sleep all night long because of the cockroaches. Would not recommend at all!
