Lanka Princess All Inclusive Hotel

Background to the review: Sri Lanka got its independence more or less same time as Singapore. Since then, nationalists came into power (and went), decided to get rid of the English language in favour of their Singalese language (Singapore embraced English because they knew how important a common business language is), a civil war came and thirty years later went, and well, Sri lanka is what we have today. A beautiful country, amazing people, horrendous diesel pollution and excellent food! Lanka Princess is an excellent Ayurvedic hotel specifically tailored to German speakers. This is an important point. While I was there, some of the hotel people kept talking to me in German. In Sri Lanka! Well, they try to make German speakers feel at home, and they do succeed. I am not a German speaker so it was a surprise for me. The hotel is a perfect Ayurvedic environment where a team of experts look after you and propose various treatments to help you get over whatever western medicine hasn't or didn't manage well. To this end, it does a very good job. There are two restaurants; the one on the left of the pool/pond, is for the Ayurvedic patients and the one on the right, is normal Sri Lankan food. They both offer excellent food. And as much as you want. And lots and lots of excellent fruit! Yummy! The rooms are big, comfortable (A/C included of course) and all of them look towards the pool. There is a garden area, a pool with a pool bar. Upon exiting the garden, the sea is right there for you to enjoy(if you can avoid the irritating beach boys that bug patrons every time they go to the beach). Pricing is appropriate for the type of luxury hotel, and depends on the time of the year. It is managed by people in Berlin, Germany. The only problems I have had were language specific; one day I requested a taxi for the next day at 8:30am, and although the lady at reception said "of course" and "yes", next morning there was no car and no one knew anything about it! By the time the taxi was arranged, I arrived late at my meeting. The following day, I requested something else and another lady at reception again said "of course" and "yes" but nothing arrived for me. The management needs to train its staff better not to say "yes" unless the staff understands fully what the client wants! This has to do with Sri Lanka and the English language and its past. Sri Lankans want to be helpful and say "yes" by default, even though they don't fully understand; they shouldn't. Apart from that issue, the stay was perfect.

They promis a lot,like different pillows and mattresses,but they have none. Had to put 3 comforters over mattress to make it a bit softer.ayurvedic treatments are short,and not all therapists are well trained.hotel has a very rigid atmosphere,no flowers,no charm, no feel of sri Lanka,could be in Germany. My room had no hot water,I complained for 3 days,then had water for one day. Don't believe everything you read. There are so many better places in Sri Lanka, with better service. The owner is an accountant in Germany, and and knows nothing about the hospitality industry. Worse vacation ever

One of the niceset places in the area. The food is delicious, the Ayurveda centre very clean and professional. The shady garden is perfect for a relaxing afternoon sipping tea on a comfortable sun bed. What I like most are the pleasant and hardworking staff members that are always very helpful and accommodating. Loved evening walks along the beach and sitting at one of the little bars whist watching the sun disappear in the Indian Ocean. Have an arrack and buy some freshly roasted Sri Lankan peanuts from the kind old man on the bike - a perfect apèro on the beach! The hotel infrastructure is a bit dated but well looked after and I am looking forward to staying here again this November!

Ich reise nun schon seit über 10 Jahren in das Hotel und bin immer wieder über den Service und die Freundlichkeit des Personals begeistert :-) An der Rezeption im Restaurant, an der Ayurveda Rezeption oder im Beauty Salon - alle in diesem Hotel versuchen den Aufenthalt so entspannt wie möglich zu gestalten. Allerdings ist das Hotel in die Jahre gekommen und eine Renovierung würde sicherlich an der einen oder anderen Stellen nicht schaden, gerade wenn die Preise weiter steigen. Ansonsten kann ich das Hotel inklusive Kur nur empfehlen, gerade für deutschsprachige Touristen, da eben auch "deutsch" gesprochen wird, wenn man möchte :-)

Wir hatten 2 wundervolle Wochen inklusive Panchakarma Kur und fühlen uns wie neugeboren. Alle sind extrem freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend, das Essen köstlich und das ganze Ambiente sehr authentisch. Absolut empfehlenswert!!

Wir waren diesen November in Lanka Princess zu Gast um eine Ayurveda Kur zu machen und es war absolut alles wunderbar. Unsere Batterien sind aufgetankt. Wir sind sehr ausgeglichen und entspannt. Das ganze Team trägt natürlich dazu bei, dass dieser Urlaub beziehungsweise diese Ayurveda Kur so wunderbar anschließt. alle sind extrem freundlich. Das Essen ist unglaublich lecker Und das Hotel bemerkt sofort an was es fehlt und hilft. Es vergeht kein Tag an dem man nicht in lachende Gesichter blickt und nicht zuletzt ist es auch sehr angenehm, dass Felicita immer zur Stelle ist und perfekt übersetzen ist, was alles noch einmal viel einfacher macht Vielen Dank an alle für unseren Aufenthalt so unglaublich schön gemacht haben😊 wir sehen uns sicher wieder
