Hotel RH Royal - Recommend for Adults

I’ve been coming to the Royal now for many years, and this review is based on my most recent stays in f November 2024 and start of January 2025. The hotel continues to what it does very well and I’m already looking forwards to my next visit. There are a lot of positives: location close to the old town, the overall cleanliness of the hotel, the service in the bar (special mention to Sergio and Claudia), the service in the restaurant and the helpfulness of the front desk staff. The food is great. Being a smaller hotel, there is never vast quantities, which rarely means things left to go cold. The quality is good and so is the choice. I’m a very fussy eater, and always found something to keep me going. Always something good on the hot plate too, served with a smile. The entertainment is good too. Each night a singer, or on one night, some acrobats/jugglers, who were very talented and provided a nice change. Then there’s host David, and his unique way of playing ‘Wingo’ or a ‘quiz’ (Never have I seen so many people put so much enthusiasm into winning a bag for life - I now have 4). One thing I really enjoyed doing on this last tip was the daytime Wine and Painting. (It was good fun, and incredibly relaxing). The bedrooms are cleaned to high standard and my bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathrooms are also with some good toiletries, but overall the rooms are starting to look a little tired and dated now and it feels like they are desperately overdue for a refresh. But all in all, 2 great stays. I have no hesitation recommending the hotel and already booked in for later this year. But hopefully those rooms get a makeover soon, or I might have to start staying somewhere else.

So firstly the drop off to this hotel is round the corner. Once we arrived at reception we were told a double room was booked. I had especially put down on the Easyjet special request a twin room was needed. However the lady on reception at this time was able to accommodate this after a few hours. Hotel is clean and modern. Air conditioning in the room wasn't great but it worked. Good size rooms. Cleaned daily to a good standard. I never got excited about meal times. Food was never hot unfortunately. There was alot of the same food everyday. Bar staff were slow at times but friendly. Best part for me was meeting David the entertainment host. He tried his best to get people involved with the daily activities. I did get involved as well as did lots of other guests. But as it was a bit repeatable I think people got fed up. My suggestion is to have different games everyday. Every week different. Have a small prize for the winners. But credit to David extremely likeable fella. He made my holiday better along with a lovely northern Ireland family I met. Please give him a pay rise. He certainly deserves it. David Made sure the hotel knew it was my birthday . Would I return probably not the area was too built up for me. But would pop in to say hello to David. Asset to this hotel 100 .

We had such a lovely 4 night stay in the Royal Hotel, the staff are so lovely and friendly. We had a room on the 9th floor which was great, Food was fabulous, such a huge choice for breakfast and the evening meal just great. The Sunday sirloin beef was so lovely and great Yorkshire puddings. Pizza really good and last night chicken fajitas were just so tasty. We will defo come back and stay here again, my only quibble was people leaving empty sunloungers for hours. We would have loved a lounger around the pool but yesterday I counted 22 empty sunloungers and the people must have gone out and left their towels. 2 ladies came back got their towels and went to their rooms.

This was our 4th visit and as usual, we were made to feel at home as soon as we arrived! Surprisingly, when we got to our room, we discovered there was no full length mirror, only a high mirror above the dressing table, plus the one in the bathroom above the sink. As two ladies, we like to see we look presentable before being seen in public!!! I nipped down to reception to see if there was such a thing as a portable full length mirror available, and the lovely gentleman at the desk was shocked to hear there wasn't such a thing in the room. He asked me to to leave it with him as he would speak with his manager to see if he could arrange something. Mum and I went out for a couple of hours, and on our return, much to our surprise, there it was, attached to the wall...a brand new mirror! This goes to show, if you have an issue, raise it with the hotel first, give them a chance to put it right, don't just moan about it on the internet. This is first class service from a lovely hotel. The rest of our stay was superb. The bar staff were very attentive, David was his usual entertaining self and the restaurant staff first class. It was nice to see the regular faces we know along with a few new members of staff. As always, the hotel was spotlessly clean but starting to look a little tired in a few areas and the rooms could do with bringing up to the same high standard as the bathrooms. Yes, totally satisfied. The first of a two hotel trip. A very short stay. We have stayed at the RH Royal before, and therefore a pretty good idea of what to expect. Surprisingly busy for the start of December. The Hotel was immaculately clean. Room had the full facilities, Fridge, Flat Screen TV, Small Fridge, Free Digital Safe, Tea/Coffee making facilities, Balcony and functional Bathroom. During our short stay we were very much of the opinion that the food and service was outstanding. Who could ask for more ?? Would we stay again ?? Will definitely stay again if the deal is right.

We visited this Hotel in June and enjoyed our time so much that we had to return for 7 nights in August. Great Hotel with brilliant staff. The restaurant staff catered very well for my wife who is coeliac and to include the Bar Staff, Reception, and the Maid for our room they were all 1st class dedicated to ensure you enjoy your stay. Great location for the old town and beach. We enjoyed our time so much that we are already booked for our return next year.
