A lovely location with perfect hosts. We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Little touches of tea and coffee, cakes and biscuits etc were a delight. The location was an easy drive to Mt Cook and the glaciers along with more stunning scenery. We would highly recommend.

An absolutely wonderful place to stay when visiting Mount Cook . Beautiful location and stunning views , fantastic quality of accommodation and Mel is a fabulous host who looks after you incredibly well . You will never regret staying at Matuka Lodge .

My husband and I were in NZ for a month and Matuka Luxury Lodge was one of the highlights of our trip! First, Mel and Mark were beyond fabulous! Breakfast was absolutely delicious! They were so attentive, warm and friendly wanting to make sure we felt at home during our stay, as with guiding us on where to go and what to do. We will truly miss them. We had a spectacular view from our room along with all the wonderful amenities. At times we did not want to leave the Lodge just so we could enjoy the atmosphere! Excellent just excellent. This B & B is excellent, has beautiful rooms with terrace overlooking the pond and in the background the beautiful snow-capped mountains. Mel & Mark give you a very warm welcome and do everything for you, so that you really feel at home. With breakfast you can just choose from a menu, which they prepare for you.

An absolutely fabulous place to say. So welcoming and helpful in every way. Gorgeous and luxurious bedrooms. Delicious and beautifully cooked breakfasts. Tranquil and peaceful setting. Cannot fault our stay in the slightest and would highly recommend!!

Matuka Lodge is perfect in every way. There is nothing that could have made our stay here any better. It was like visiting family, and we could not have been made to feel more welcome by Mel, who was happy to give recommendations for dinner, and make our booking. Mark bakes wonderful treats for guests to help themselves to, and every type of hot drink is available, with fridge space, ice and lovely glasses for one’s own drinks. Breakfast is the best we have had in NZ (inc. 5* hotels) and the room is the most comfortable imaginable. Guest areas are beautifully furnished and decorated and we can’t recommend this place enough.

This was such a welcoming stay. Mel is the best hostess, with her warm and friendly personality. She kept in touch before our arrival to be sure we had directions and to answer any of our questions. As soon as we arrived, she offered us a cup of tea and a coffee, plus there were some delicious goodies to be enjoyed. The Lodge is luxurious and very homey. The guests enjoy two different dining areas, as well as a beautiful sitting area by the full length windows. The outdoor deck is perfect for relaxing by the pond. Mel always has a table with fruit, cookies, cake, candies, and tea and coffee are also always available. There is wine and soft drinks also for a small fee. The bedrooms are well appointed and cozy, bright and cheery. There is a sliding door onto a deck outside the bedroom. The bathroom is also very well appointed, with a large shower and heated towel bars. In the evening, make sure to step outside your room or onto the big deck and look up at the stars!!! Breathtaking. We so enjoyed our stay at Matuka Lodge and the surrounding area of Twizel and Mt. Cook.
