Lemeng Hotel (Beijing Houhai Drum Tower)

Pro - the staff were always ready to help and willing to assist with even the smallest requests. Many thanks to the wonderful staff for their exceptional hospitality! Pro - good location, Guloudajie (鼓楼大街) station is just few minutes walks away (E North West exit) You can access subway Line 2 and 8 here, Line 8 can bring you to many tourist spots; there are a Lawson convenience store in the station, a local wet market (新民菜市场) across the big busy roads and a supermarket (喜友邻综合超市) when you turn right from the hotel's hutong; walk further down from the supermarket and you will find the McDonald's Con - terrible sound isolation; unfortunately we had noisy neighbors so we couldn't sleep well at night, there's a school nearby so you can expect some noise during school hours Con - we got a poorly maintained room - torn paper door, cracked tiles, chipped paints, old kettle; the heater wasn't doing a very good job so the bathroom was always cold (the central heating hadn't started during our visit), there was no fridge, no other beverages in the room except 2 bottles of drinking water; certain areas of the courtyard were rather messy and untidy There's a small parking lot big enough for cars to reverse out but beware that some taxi drivers may still refuse to drive up to the hotel entrance There are also occasional feline visitors, we sure love them, maybe not ideal if you're allergic

Good location, clean, safe, and helpful staff. There are a few restaurants and supermarkets around the hotel.

I loved staying in a courtyard hotel. It felt like I traveled back in time! 😊 Check-in / out was fast and the room was always clean during my stay. The staff even upgraded my room.It is near Guloudajie Station and a bus stop. There is a lot of good restaurants near the place. If you are a light sleeper, the lack of soundproofing might be a concern for you. I wasn't able to sleep well for the first 2 nights because of the noisy guests (loud conversations + children shouting in the next room). This is not the hotel's fault and this would not stop me from booking this hotel again in my next trip to Beijing.

The hotel is in a great location, with plenty of food outlets nearby and the metro just a short walk away. What I loved most is the design and history of the building, which dates back over 500 years. This place fulfills my dream of staying in a true Chinese 四合院。 When we weren’t out exploring, I often sat in the courtyard to work on my computer—it felt almost surreal to be in such an ancient setting, surrounded by the gentle rustle of leaves and the calls of insects. Just nearby, there’s a local market where we went almost every morning to enjoy fresh soya bean milk and Chinese buns for breakfast. The staff provides very personable service and will go all the way to assist us.

Incredible hotel. It’s a ~550 year old Buddhist temple with beautiful gardens and courtyards. Very peaceful place to stay, yet really convenient to many of the attractions you’ll want to visit.

Clean, nice room, good location. Good service. Very nice AC which saved us since the summer was hot. The courtyard and buildings are super pretty.
