Read and Rest Hotel

Cleaner tidies the place regardless whether you request it. If you dont want to clean make sure u press the button in room near door that says do not disturb. If that isn’t turn on, she will come in to clean. Very zealous but not too effective. However it’s a cursory clean up. I spilt some coke on the floor next to bed. I cleaned it up myself but that spot is still a bit sticky and has some brown spots. And it stayed that way throughout my 6 night stay. Hair in shower area not cleared too. Small lectern (used as side table) was not cleaned too. I use it as a base to eat and crumbs still on it every day.  Bar is just 3 m from hotel entrance. Very noisy on weekends, rowdy merrymakers until 2-3 am. Sound proofing not good. Week day nights okay.  No full size mirror in room. No tv. If u need those, look elsewhere. Every time i order take out, esp late at night or in morning, always have to call front desk to get robot to send it up. Never automatic. A bit annoying. Front desk lacks initiative in general. Worst front desk in all the hotels I have stayed in. Ji Hotel has spoiled me with their friendly approachable staff. Room size is decent. Enough space for one luggage and a carry on. Simple room, location is the biggest draw. Within walking distance to train station, attractions, convenience stores, and restaurants. Safe with police stations nearby. Good for solor travelers.

Lovely room, location was unbeatable. Take note that the mini room doesn’t have a fridge inside but other than that, all’s well.

The location is damn good and conveniences for craving food and jst 2mins away from subway station. Beside the hotel is the famous noodle restaurant. However, the room a bit small squarefeet, while open my luggage has been occupied the space. If you don’t mind, that’s the right hotel for your priority’s choices.

This is for the foreigners first of all! The hotel’s concept is very nice in general. The location is super convenient and interesting. BUT! 1. staff (and all other ppl around you in the city 😅) don’t speak English at all! And don’t really want to :) There was only 1 western tourist in the hotel, others are Chinese 2. I had a room on the 5th floor facing the small street with hutons (see the pic) which was cool! But there were also a couple of bars and a busy noodles place right below my window. I had some issues with the smell and the sound at the late hour. 3. the sound proof in rooms in general is very bad.. there were Chinese girls in the next room, they were talking and laughing till 2-3 am. I heard them clearly as if they were sitting in my room 😬 and the noise of closing doors from the corridors was also very loud obviously 4. No restaurant/caffetteria in the hotel for those who prefer to eat breakfast inside (for me it was not an issue) As for the rest the hotel is very convenient and nicely located in the old city center! 5 min from the subway. Lots of small, traditional places to eat, convenient stores, western style coffee shops, bakery right behind the corner! You can walk to the historic hutong area and/or to Lama Temple or just walk down the street in a direction of the forbidden city (about 45 min) The rooms are very nicely designed (minimalistic and stylish), the bed is super comfy! There’s a cozy libruary and a large open roof top terrace with the awesome street view! I definitely can recommend this place, just take the note of all the above. There are some rooms facing the back yard, maybe it’s better to chose them. If I’m in Beijing next time I think I’ll stay there again.

My second stay at the hotel. It is a few steps from the terminus of airport line from Beijing Capital, located on the market street at the edge of hutong. Easy commuting anywhere (I commute mostly to Haidian and Chaoyang), extremely friendly staff (for foreigners: good to know some Mandarin though), and calm library with generous workspace. Right below the hotel at the entry to hutong is Michelin star Chongqing noodles restaurant (be prepared for a queue).
