I have been a regular at Ariva for last 10 years. It’s a 4 star property which you could easily mistake for 5 star, but that was before the pandemic.
After the pandemic, their service quality had dropped significantly. We returned to China and had 5 pieces of big suitcase plus additional hand luggage. Guess what, we were told there is no person who can help us to carry the luggage to our rooms. After repeated reminder, one boy named Tommy who looked like a trainee helped to carry the luggage to the room. Same thing happened at checkout. The reception person was straight and honest “we don’t have a person available who can help you with the luggage”. I had to take 4 rounds to carry the luggage down by myself. And we are talking of a property which is rated as 4 star!!
I felt sad, perhaps the hotel had a hard time during the pandemic and was still recovering from bad financial situation that they don’t have full service staff yet. The reception staff, all were trainees from colleges.
In terms of facilities, its still a good place. They have swimming pool, gym, spa and every room I have stayed here is spacious and has a bathtub. I have always loved their Aviva center on 6th floor which has DIY kitchen and laundry area which helps if you are staying for long duration or are traveling with kids.
I haven’t lost faith and hope Ariva will have its glory days once again.
