Royalton Punta Cana review- Jan 6-13 Check in- Easy, quick they do put my husband and I in two queens, I was too tired to even care so I didn’t ask for king. No biggy.. he could have let us know where things were like give us a map. I had to ask him where is our room and he points me to the left . Ok don’t worry I will figure it out. The concierge brings me two other people luggage and quickly find ours within 10 mins. Bracelet - room key was perfect. Don’t have to worry about bringing with you as it’s clipped on your wrist. All resorts should do the same. Loved this. Reservations - be better! Give us atleast 1 reservation at time of check in. The app doesn’t work, the Sunwing rep was no help at all! Consierge no help, they just want to sell you a time share. Sunwing needs to drop this hotel as a partner if they can’t live up to their advertising of having a la cartes. Buffet - marche buffet. We are not picky at all. I had better buffets in Bucerius @royal Decameron. For example, they had a Mexican station and had a very small bowl of guacamole, pico which were always empty. I asked for more and waited literally 13 mins and I just gave up as my omelette was getting cold. Lunch time - meh, pizza, pasta, cheese, breads, leafy greens. Rice, some veggies. Could be better. Buffet Marche- not great. Service was brutal. Had to always ask someone for coffee/ water and a spoon for my coffee. They were annoyed everytime. We asked. No one smiles here and if you ask for something they look at you like we’re interrupting. Their processes could be better. For example- we seen one person stay the empty tables and then another person 5 mins later came to wipe it, then another person to set the table. Pool towels- first day no towels at 10 am, by 11:30 they had some. They need to manage this better as we quickly played this game and had 6 towels in one day. Give two towel cards to each guest at check in and go collect your towels. We seen so many people with 3-4 towels per Lounger. Some laying on the pool deck all soaked with no owner. The beach- yup had to get up early for a good spot. 4th day wow the water came up right to the wall and a lot of chairs were messed up. I think they lost a few chairs to the angry ocean. Beautiful beach! Loved this part of our trip. Drinks - I was delighted to see they brought you fancy plastic margarita, daiquiri cups for your drinks versus the ole plain 2 ounce plastic kids cup most resorts give you. This was nice to see. Sands bar - loved this bar, quieter, and the view omg it was amazing. Hugo and Yendi were awesome! They are the morning till 2 pm shift. They recognize us immediately after day 1 and always have smiles and make conversation with us. These guys were the only ones that were attentive. They made me a mean Ojo Rojo! Yummy!!! The bbq beside sands bar was very good also! Great food for a quick bite. Lines up quickly but worth it. Dips pool bar - very busy and needs more staff as

I spent weeks researching various all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, and for the money, this resort offered the most value. I am really glad we upgraded to Diamond Club for our anniversary stay. Santos made our stay that much more special by having a cake delivered to our room with decorations. We had everything we needed. The entire property was very clean and manicured. The room we were in needed some maintenance since the bathroom fan didn't function. The minor cosmetic repairs that were made, looked very sloppy and unprofessional. They were supposed to stock our mini fridge daily, but that only happened three times during our 5 night stay. There were plenty of food options between Spash and Punta Cana resorts. While we had some food that wasn't great, there were so many options, that we can't complain. We found plenty to do each day and loved going to the beach as much as possible. I think though, next time, we will probably stay at the Punta Cana resort as it was much nicer.

The staff at this hotel are some of the nicest I’ve ever encountered! They are helpful, kind, and go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. A special mention to our room assistant, Junior, who was exceptional. The food here is absolutely delicious, with plenty of options available at all times. The Italian restaurant, “Grazie,” was a standout experience, and our waiter, Enrice, was incredibly attentive and helpful. Everyone at the hotel genuinely strives to assist you and resolve any issues you may have. This place truly exceeded my expectations!

1. As a Marriott Titanium member, I chose a “family” hotel from the Marriott website. During my almost 20 years of loyalty with Marriott, I have always felt special in their hotels, because they let me know and I have benefits. This time it was not the case. 2. In the past, I have stayed at Marriott All Inclusive, both at Planet Hollywood and Royalton (Cancun), also at Westin All-inclusive and we have had category benefits, such as access to Diamon Club and access to restaurant reservations, etc. It was precisely for this reason that we chose this hotel, but clearly with the withdrawal of these benefits and for the cost paid, we will not return to a Marriott all inclusive. 3. Now, speaking of the quality of the property, it left a lot to be desired. It calls itself a luxury hotel, and it is far from this. a. The rooms are old and poorly maintained. b. There are cockroaches in the rooms. Something that had not happened to us in other properties in the Caribbean. They fumigated, but they appeared again. 4. I understand that Marriott does a lot to maintain the loyalty of their customers who spend significant resources on hotels, but properties like this cause that loyalty to be lost or at least rethink. 5. On the other hand, rest and good sleep is very difficult, since people who work in the hotel constantly and very early pass making a lot of noise and shouting, very uncomfortable. 6. In the building next door, 26 (we stayed at the end of 25) was under construction, which is very annoying, a lot of noise several times a day. 7. Smoking areas: This hotel needs to have specific smoking areas. It seems that the entire hotel is smoking, which is nasty for kids and people that dislike smoke. We had to move several times from where we were in the beach and pool. 8. Regarding service: a. Get a coffee at the restaurant. Breakfast (both buffet places) is almost impossible. I don't know if they have enough staff or what, but even with the restaurant at its average capacity, you can't get the much-desired coffee for breakfast. b. A similar situation is in specialty restaurants, sometimes you have to be in the middle of the meal for a glass of wine to arrive. c. There are serious problems with beach towels. At 10:30am the hotel no longer has towels. Not even in the Diamond sector. d. Not to mention getting a cocktail while on the beach. Being on the beach all day, hopefully 1 person passes by all day offering something even at the Dimond Area. This was a poor experience, not even close to our experience in Mexico with Royalton and Planet Hollywood. 9. In our last night, to coronate the 9 days, a chewing gum was stick on my knee from the table. Ve nasty and we had long hair on my meal as weel. Finaly went to the room and one of my kids bed was not made. we notice this at 11pm. Then i took a while (and had to go walking to front desk) to get someone to go and make it. 10. Our New Year's Eve celebration at the Royalton Splash is, unfortunately, a major disappointment from the moment we arrived. We reached the resort at 3:45 PM, only to find our room wasn’t ready despite notifying the hotel in advance about our early arrival and the fact that we were traveling with a toddler. Left with no choice, we changed and tried to make the best of the resort while waiting. However, things only got worse. Several staff members directed us to the main buffet on the 1st floor, claiming it was open for lunch. When we arrived, it was closed. The only option available was the taco truck, which offered a very limited menu with only two of the three items available. When we finally got into our room hours later, it was barely 50% clean. While the bed and bathroom were acceptable, the floors were filthy — unacceptable for anyone, let alone a family with a baby. I raised the issue with the front desk. While the front desk agents were polite and professional, the supervisor or manager refused to move us to another room. The view from the room didn’t help either — it overlooked a swamp and the balconies of the neighboring property, which wasn’t exactly inviting. Eventually, after much insistence, we were moved to a different room. While this room was cleaner, it had a noticeable odor that I assumed could be handled with some air freshener. I requested housekeeping to freshen it up before we moved in, but this never happened. By the time we settled in, it was 8 PM, and we decided to head out for dinner. Dinner turned out to be another disappointment. Most of the food was cold, and the heating stations weren’t functioning properly. Food was left unattended, which was both unappetizing and unprofessional. When we returned to our room after midnight, we were greeted by an unbearable smell. With our baby needing rest, we opened the doors and windows to let in some fresh air, hoping it would improve the situation. But when we woke up the next morning, the room was flooded. Water was seeping through the bathroom walls, even though no taps or pipes were left on. Despite informing the front desk, no one seemed to care or address our concerns. We had to use the towels to get rid of the water. With two more days left at the resort, we’re left feeling completely let down. This has been one of the most disappointing experiences we’ve ever had, and I plan to escalate this matter to corporate. A follow-up review will detail how (or if) the management attempts to resolve these issues. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for your vacation. Royalton Splash is far from the luxury experience it claims to be.

We had a great time in this resort, you do not need to worry about some of the really bad reviews. We stayed for 11 days, and was not bored once. This holiday gave us so much rest that we needed, whilst having the perfect balance with fun activities and nightlife. We spent the majority of our time on the PC side as it tended to be slightly quieter. The beach is beautiful and you can always get sunloungers. By staying in this resort, you do get access to the vast majority of the royalton punta Cana, all the activities, the buffet, most of the restaurants, however if you want to go to the teppenyaki/sushi or the steak restaurant at the PC, it is $45 per person (if you’re staying at the splash). Rooms: We stayed in block 28, on the first floor, the room was big, had stunning views of the main splash pool, was directly opposite the main evening entertainment hub, the cafe, shops, medic, the fish restaurant and snack place and also the main train stop, and a 2 minute walk from the waterpark. The walk from this area to the PC lobby is 6 minutes, and the walk is through a beautiful mangrove with turtles, ducks, iguanas and birds, so it’s a lovely walk. The train/shuttle is very frequent though so if you didn’t want to walk; you wouldn’t need to wait more than 10-15 mins max for the next one. The rooms were clean, our towels refreshed every day and in abundance, and our mini fridge filled with the things we requested and used every day. Plenty water bottles available in your room as well. If you like bottles of water, you can take these from your room, or you can take a reusable water bottle with you and have the staff at bars fill it for you, but when at the pools and beach, they won’t give you plastic water bottles due to not stocking them and only having a filtered water tank, so can only fill glasses or reusable bottles you provide. Overall resort: The pools, evening entertainment and the daytime entertainment at splash were all great. There were live djs all day long at the main pool, but if you fancied a quieter spot, you could always go to the other pool for a more lowkey vibe. At the main pool, they have activities all day long, from waterpolo, to dancing, to foam pool parties. There is also a range of activities at the PC pools as well, which also includes games, yoga, water games etc. if you want to join in, you will never be bored, if you’re not wanting to get involved, the team are not pushy and are totally happy for you to just chill out and watch. Staff: The staff are generally very friendly, we did not have diamond club, and we rarely tipped, but overall the staff are helpful and friendly. Sometimes you may need to wait for things like drinks in the buffet, but you’ll never be waiting a ridiculous length of time. Cleanliness and Hygiene: The overall resort is clean and beautiful, there is a great deal of maintenance ongoing at the moment, including the closure of specific blocks and also some restaurants, so if you’re travelling

Day 7 out of 10 trip and I feel compelled to write this now and I am still here, I hardly do reviews, but feel I should tell you— I do not recommend and would not come back to Royalton Splash or any Royalton for that matter. I am an avid traveller and I manage my expectations in the Caribbean well, I am also very compassionate for the state of affairs in the Global south since I am born there. I guess expected too much from Royalton Punta Cana Splash, being its from a Marriott chain. I did not upgrade to Diamond because I didn’t think it’s worth it since we don’t drink much at all. Beach: sand itself is nice. But don’t come if you prefer the beach. It’s too far and there’s only burgers, hot dogs and fries. For those that did not upgrade to Diamond Club PRO: Lots of palapa or trees. Smooth sand. CON: rough waters, red flag on most days. Don’t expect calm waters here. Small strip of sand on this resort. Food: If you don’t upgrade to Diamond you will only get Buffet at Splash which is too far to go back and forth from the beach. Buffet is okay. Service has been poor, sometimes good, I don’t know what’s going with their front line staff, but something is off. I don’t blame the front line staff, I am sure they are doing their best, their service I am sure is a projection of what their treatment from upper management. Seems to be a lot of supervision while they just need more staff and more spoons and bowls. I am a generous tipper but many times I didn’t even get the opportunity since no one hardly can around. It’s a busy season I thought Royalton would have capacity to serve it but they don’t. I feel we would’ve been better off at a smaller resort. A la carte is okay, my husband ate some bad cheese at the Italian restaurant and had food poisoning for 1.5 days. Mexican was authentic which was nice. You really have to get on the App at midnight to get a decent time and it’s a day out only to book you can’t book further in advance even though there was space inside the restaurant, strange! Does not look good for resort. I truly don’t expect 5 star at these ala carte restaurants I live in Toronto if I want fine dining I know where to go. What bothered me most was the empty spots when the app says it’s unavailable. SALES: a lot of sales, they “have” to hover around the stair well I guess, again I don’t blame them there must be pressure from the top there. You can’t just have a dinner there’s always, always an upgraded option whereby someone will be asking you to upgrade. Someone is always selling something whether it be the spa, their “free orientation” or a dinner upgrade. lots of vendors. Again I don’t blame them and they aren’t pushy — it’s very unusual much more than I have been used to and I travel a lot, all-inclusives and otherwise. Which is why I won’t stay at a Royalton again. Booked diamond club which gave us access to all facilities including Punta Cana, wasn’t met of our transport so headed for the diamond lounge where we checked in all quick and easy and met our butler Victor. Room - pretty standard, mini fridge stocked daily, tv and coffee machine, the bed and pillows - fabulous! Balcony with views over the back of the hotel. As so close to Xmas the block was busy with lots of families! Food - Good, some of the reviews make it sounds like there isn’t much choice we found there was a good selection - sandwiches,pizza, burgers, pasta, omelettes, salad, cooked meats etc everyday. If you have a sweet tooth there is also lots of sweet choices. Coffee shop is lovely and the girls always so happy with sandwiches, ice cream and cakes available. Highlight was Dorado which is for Hideaway guests but our butler booked us in x 3 it was really nice except last visit the food was not hot and was replaced quickly so all good. Room service is available. Beach - is nice, waves can be rolling but fun to jump and swim in, parasols are fixed so some bed shuffling, beds were comfy and always available, towels plentiful unless it rains as everyone just leaves them out and then wants dry ones ! Drink and food service in the beach a tip does help! A lot of sand was missing around the beds and view blocked by the baya beds which are booked separately. But lovely long stretch of sand by the sea to walk along. The non diamond section the beds were crammed in (in my opinion). Pools- spent mostly in PC nice pools and pool closest to the beach always has entertainment and music. Again good drink service if you don’t want to leave your sunbed x Entertainment - goes on throughout the day if you want it, evening entertainment was ok Gym - good, lots of classes if you like to join in but not pushy if it’s not your thing Tipping does help we probably spend around 45 dollars for drinks and food for 10 days and then some for the butler Bars - if you don’t like a strong drink just watch the pouring lol, good choices of cocktails etc.
