Family Batcave Homestay

Great homestay if you want to experience the life of local Khmer people. Located near the bat cave and surrounded with rice fields, perfect way to disconnect from busy city life and indulge in local culture. The dinner and breakfast are delicious. Saro speaks English very well, he can introduce you to local culture and touristic spots. Don’t expect a five star hotel but rather an assembly of humble huts. Saro and his family provide everything needed to make sure we spend a comfortable stay. Beautiful sunset and sunrise over the rice fields.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Yes, it is ‘basic’ but that’s the absolute beauty of it. Back to nature, away from the crazy business of the main areas. Esaro was very responsive to messages; organised a tuktuk to pick me up from the bus station, with the driver having a sign up with my name clearly written for ease. A really decently priced bike tour with him of the batcaves, killing caves, temple and hilarious monkey forest. Plus a simple but tasty dinner and breakfast, with beers thrown in for dinner. Had been a full on trip going around Vietnam and Cambodia so I was so grateful to have this peaceful haven to relax in. I haven’t stopped telling people about it!!! The pics say it all really.

Battambang is one of the most memorable places of our trip to Cambodia, and the most defining experience was the few days we spent at the Family Bat Cave Homestay. The hosts were amazingly attentive and helpful. The hostess's cooking, the host's stories, the informative and exciting guided tour, the laughter and smiling of their children, the insight into the busy everyday life of the elder family members.... I will never forget it and thank you for being a part of it. I hope we can meet again one day. I wish the family all the best. I highly recommend this homestay to anyone who wants to get a slice of rural Cambodian life and Khmer hospitality.

We stayed at Saro's for 2 nights but wished we could have stayed for way longer. Saro and his family offer a proper authentic experience to see how beautiful Cambodia is and what life is like in the province. The rooms are simple and clean and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Saro also helped us to go around and book all the activities we wanted to do, giving us tips and advices for the most interesting things to see in the area, that aren't necessarily advertised on websites and guides. All of this made our stay in Battambang an unforgettable experience. He made us feel part of his family, even though for a short stay, and we'll remember our dinner time conversations for a long time. Hope to see you soon Saro! Andrea and Sarah

Well ... where to start?! First of all, its not a 5* hotel and my review is based around staying at an authentic Khmer homestay (in a rural area). ... To sum it up, I loved every minute of it. The room was clean and spacious with amazing views, the shared bathroom and shower was also very clean and well-maintained. Saro and his family were perfect hosts and couldn't have been more welcoming. I genuinely felt like part of the family. The food was fantastic, his wife is an excellent cook and the traditional Khmer food was the best ive ever had (this is my third time in Cambodia). The location was great, only being a short walk away from the killing caves and bat caves. Saro also has bicycles that you can use (free of charge) to explore a bit further afield. I didnt go much further than 13km (about a hours ride each way) but theres plenty to see and do in that radius. If cycling isnt your thing, or you have less time then he can also arrange tuk tuk tours covering most attractions in a day or two (I didnt take a tour so im not sure of the details). Saro is also very knowledgeable about the local area and was happy to answer all my questions. I honestly cant praise this family enough. Probably the best and most authentic homestay ive ever stayed in. Thank you Saro and the family, keep up the good work and I hope to see you again in the future :)
