Pinewood Inn

My mother and father (seniors, 85 and 88), reserved for four nights in early October. My mother ended up getting ill and could not travel. Upon calling to cancel their room, they were informed their policy was to be charged the full rate for each night reserved. No conditions or considerations. So, two seniors had to pay almost $600 for a room they never used due to this policy.

When I used to come to this place, it was well kept and very easy to get service and help when needed. It was the go to place when I would visit the bay area. But the woes of new ownership are numerous. Bad smell, bugs everywhere, pretty bad service from the owners. It doesn't feel like a safe place to stay anymore. Just another horrible fate for what was a nice little hotel. Do not support this hotel.

Room was small, so small there was only 1 night table on one side of the double bed. It was room 19 . Furniture was run down, needed replacement or at least refinishing. Walls had peeling wallpaper and a very large vertical crack in it. Bathroom did have a new toilet, but the size of the room was so small, that it was extremely close to the wall. Worse part about it, was the sheets on the bed were old, had pilling and to make matters worse looked slept in when we pulled back the blankets. They had a very musty /cupboard smell . We were the only ones staying there that night (March 21,2022). That in itself was a bad sign. They have a no refund policy once it was booked, and that was the only reason we stayed. Would never stay there again even if it was free.

I booked this place online as there are very few options in Barry's Bay and the photos looked decent enough. When we got there after a long drive from Hamilton, ON we stepped in the room. The first thing that stuck me was the stench and then I realized there was no heat, this was the beginning of January. There was used tissue stuck to the wall, there was gum stuck on the bedside table. The bathroom was disgusting. When we went to get out money back and find a new place to stay the guy at the desk said there were no refunds. I told him that wasn't good enough, so he got on the phone with someone else. He then said he would refund half of our money. I lost it, I threatened them that I would write a review on every single online site I could find. I finally got my money back. This is the only review I wrote. DO NOT STAY THERE.

The prize was fair. The accommodations in all were good. The backyard of motel was pretty. Close to small beach. Good location. Owners are nice. When called to change sheets and get more towels they were prompt. Fridge, microwave, seating area. Good

Prettige ontvangst, fijne locatie en schone kamer. Heerlijk buiten kunnen zitten, eten en barbecueën. Kunt zo lopend naar het water met bankjes en stukje strand. Geen grote wandelmogelijkheden helaas, wel een wandeling in de omgeving gevonden, maar vanwege teveel vliegen en muggen binnen 10 minuten weer gestaakt.
