I was speechless to say the least. As I'm not a very fussy kind of person I thought it can't be THAT bad but my god it sure was....for the first time ever I saw a hotel room with a whole in the middle of the headboard of the bedframe, white spots all over the carpet (which i really don't want to even imagine where they came from) and dirty walls. To top it off the reception asked for a £50 cash deposit during my stay which honestly I didn't understand at all after seeing the state of the room. Anyway, I addressed the issue, the trip.com agent was helpful and then I got offered another room in the hotel which was much nicer (clearly newly renovated) but then i came to find a whole family of bugs in the shower....I will always check reviews after this experience. It was truly unexpected to experience this level of uncleanness in 2023 in UK. See the photos and come to your own conclusion

I booked this hotel on behalf of my sister and paid a deposit against damages on my credit card at the time of booking. This was forfeit after the stay, with no explanation as to why. After two emails went unanswered I called the hotel and was told by front desk that there was a note on the system stating that there was a smell of smoke in the room and a window mesh had been damaged. He assured me that I would be contacted the next day about the refund of my deposit, There was no contact the next day and another two emails requesting evidence of damage went unanswered. Given the unwillingness to substantiate claims of damage with evidential support, I find it hard to believe that £50 worth of damage was done to the window mesh. In light of this lack of communication and customer support I would not recommend this hotel.
