I visited here on a solo trip from Nottingham as I fancied a walk around around Chatsworth House whilst my partner was working - luckily they managed to squeeze me in which was great! The food, service and everything in between was 10/10. The staff & host were so friendly & welcoming. I had roast lamb which was cooked perfectly & the crumble was the best I’ve had in any restaurant! Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting the local area - a really welcoming/warm & tranquil place to eat

I would normally give this hotel an excellent but we now have reservations.The staff are lovely and the rooms delightful.It is very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed the meals especially breakfast which was first class. A very attractive bar serving very good real ale is also a bonus . Despite all this we feel that the dog friendly policy is far too liberal. At our evening meal a lady had a dog on her knee next to us and left it on the seat whenever she stood up . We were also astonished that at breakfast dogs were also fed and again one such dog was on a knee the whole time .Apart from the hygiene issue yapping dogs in a small room certainly spoil any ambience. There needs to be an area where guests can eat food free of our canine friends .

This is one of my favourite places for dining in the Peak District. We have been on a number of occasions for lunch and dinner and the food and service was always outstanding. We love that most of the ingredients are locally sourced and we can definitely tell that the meat is always of great quality. We will continue going back!

We booked a table for lunch before we went to visit Chatsworth's Christmas tour. We chose starters of partridge breast £13.50 ish we could hardly see it on the plate . I had venison, and Mr E had a burger . They were both ok he had two small pieces of beef and a burger patty on the burger bun ? We didn't know why ? . I had two small slices of venison on my plate with a small potato anna and some vegetables. This dish was £27 .! I am really wondering if they want repeat customers . 🤔 . It was all a little mean and lean.

We loved this place. Booked so we could visit Chatsworth at Christmas but the hotel was just as much of a treat. We had a farmhouse room with a four poster bed and an enormous bathroom. Super clean with lovely welcoming touches. Good value to. Amazingly friendly staff, very nice rooms and delicious food. We thought this was amazing

If there is one person who sums up how lovely this place is it is Emma, Head of Housekeeping, bartender, waitress, receptionist, she is everywhere and helping out with everything with a beaming smile and a sunny nature. The rooms were lovely, comfortable, spotlessly clean, and super warm. The only fault I had with mine was that the window wouldn’t open and my sister who was in the room next door had an issue with a smelly drain in the bathroom, however, this seems to be a problem with a lot of old buildings we have stayed in previously. Would we return? Absolutely Thank you Emma for being so welcoming

Excellent hotel on a lovely quiet road. Comfortable beds, superb staff, excellent breakfast with lots of choice. Particularly liked the little touches - proper glasses in the room (not plastic), 2 chairs in our double room (so many hotel rooms only have 1), coffee machine in the room, high quality products in the bathroom and robes.

Fabulous lunch, great greeting and huge choice of menus, al a carte, lunch fixed, lite bites. Staff were so attentive and friendly, food was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back to give it another go when next in the area, perhaps for a Sunday roast.

Booked table for Sunday lunch. No starter, chose pork and beef. Quite a wait for 2 plates of food; the pork was barely lukewarm, plates cold and the veg on the beef portion were cool. We sent the pork back as not warm and we then had yo wait 10 mins for the cauliflower cheese (standard part of the lunch) to be brought to the table, by which time the beef serving had nearly been finished! When the pork came out again there were some veg missing but didn't want to wait again. We then ordered dessert. Apple crumble, which came out almost to hot to eat! Tasted delicious. Service was slow despite the main rush being over by the time we sat down to eat. Would not come here again.
