Ocean Bay Hotel & Resort

I liked staying here. Very scenic, unrushed and the staff are friendly and attentive. My room was spacious and quiet. With firm bed and pillows I was able to get a decent sleep. The hotel is next to Cape Point Beach so it was nice to go out and interact with the locals. The hot water wasn't that hot though. All in all I would stay here again if back in The Gambia.

So just got back from a 2 week stay and can honestly say was pleasantly surprised. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis which we were really happy with as gave us the opportunity to try different restaurants in the area even though a few have closed due to hotels now offering all inclusive. We did feel all inclusive was over priced and not a great selection on drinks. Back to the hotel on arrival we were given a refreshing drink of local wonga juice we had booked an ocean view room and were taken to it with our luggage the room was spacious and looked like it had been recently refurbished bathroom was quite small and only issue was with the shower and temperature and flow of the water which would turn from just right to scorching hot when pressure increased so just a warning. Breakfast was okay and had everything you could want, have to praise Lammin one of the waiters he was so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The pool area was lovely and the pool attendant was helpful and reserved our favourite beds for us everyday. The restaurants we tried were Calypso , new one for the road and Gibbis in the local area all were lovely but favourite was Gibbis they even picked us up and drove us back at no charge. We went to Senegambia 3 times plenty of choice of places to eat and taxi sits and waits for you to bring you back which is really helpful. We did have one of the guys outside to hotel help with a few things like going to better shops for soft drinks and beer to go in mini fridge in the room which worked out so much cheaper than buying from bar at hotel which was quite pricey if not on all inclusive. We organised our own trips before we left and used Gambia Favourite Tours. Malcolm was great and took care of everything and made sure we were happy with our choices. I would definitely go back as the people weather and hotel went far beyond was I was expecting.

Budget resort with a nice layout, medium sized housed in big garden with okay sized pool (in winter cool water). Direct access to the sea and large beach area (in winter season, swimming maybe not advised). Big reception area with local artwork and lounge chairs. Active entertainment crew, friendly staff and okay service (but beware of exchange and payment fees; currency makes a difference, and hotel prices somewhat higher than local prices). Nice size clean rooms with good beds and private shower bathroom (only cold water). Nice breakfast buffet with fine selection of fresh fruit and vegetables plus yoghurt, muesli, nuts, warm dishes, bread and some cakes. Nice evening buffet with good selection and okay a la carte menu (some dishes and wines not available). A spa with beauty treatments, but no baths like sauna etc. A small fitness room with old, worn fitness machines, but a good selection of free weights for effective training. Nice pool and dining area with some nice music and dance shows in the evening, but also constant music during the day; some like it, but I would have preferred no music.
