Microtel by Wyndham Baguio

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Microtel by Wyndham Baguio, and it was an excellent experience. The location is perfect, providing easy access to many attractions in Baguio. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-maintained, offering a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making sure that every need was met promptly and efficiently. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options to choose from. Overall, my stay at Microtel by Wyndham Baguio was truly enjoyable, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

My stay was less than ideal due to several issues. The water heater did not work instantly, and I had to run the water for 15 minutes(waste of water) before it warmed up enough for a shower, which was quite inconvenient. The window view was also disappointing(I requested for a room transfer with a pine tree view, they told me no available room). Additionally, I had to request basic amenities each time for extra person(we are 3 person in a room)which should have been provided without needing to ask. This significantly impacted the quality of my stay. Good breakfast though. Most staff are courteous.

We enjoy our stay. The staff are so nice both restaurant and the hotel.

Not so good for Westerners but locals who know the area seem happy, at least if you look through the ‘reviews.’ The lead pic (attached) shows a building with green lawns out the front. Wrong! It’s sandwiched between two roads, a bus stop and a gas station. Some of the rooms close to reception seemed newer and renovated but we were relegated further down the corridor to a dingy pit with a mouldy air conditioner. After a long road trip and late arrival I was just too tired and disappointed to contest this. Like many places in the Philippines, it’s best to fork out the extra $ and avoid such places. Sadly though, this type of hotel is commonplace in Baguio - read, run-down. Need convincing? See the beautiful view from the bedroom window (pic below)…..

Convenient location and friendly reception staff. Was rather disappointed that there was no beverage and kettle/cups provided in room. The complimentary coffee was served in a common area next to the reception with paper cup. The room WiFi server was down on the day and we have to get down to the lobby area to access the internet service. The room is rather small and the fan noise from the old Aircon unit is disturbing.

Nice and tidy! Cold/hot water dispenser on each floor. Ice cubes and coffee in lobby level available was a plus. The restaurant was good as well, unfortunately it followed the local timing and was closed at 9pm already. That feels for a Hotel restaurant a bit early. A WiFi repeater at the restaurant would not hurt either. The Christmas decoration in the Hotel was very nice, just white silver and blue - a relieve for the eyes from the overcolored decorations everywhere else. Good stay, and we consider to come back.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also good value. We enjoyed it.

During our stay, we found the overall experience quite satisfactory. The hotel's strategic location, with convenient access to taxis and its central position in the city, contributed positively to our visit. The cleanliness and coziness of our room were notable, providing a comfortable retreat. However, a notable drawback was the absence of wifi signal in our room, necessitating a trip to the lobby for online connectivity. On a positive note, the staff, particularly the friendly security guards, added a welcoming touch to our stay. While the food was adequate, it didn't stand out as particularly special.
