St Ann's Motel & Cottage

This motel is located in a scenic location right on the Cabot Trail. The rooms look over the water and hills, which were very beautiful with the colorful autumn leaves. There are chairs and a fire-pit where you can enjoy the view (which included herons, gulls and a seal). Our room was clean and comfortable -- nothing fancy, but fine for a good night sleep. There is free parking, and a restaurant next door. The hosts were very friendly, accessible and full of good ideas and advice for our travels. All in all, this motel was a good stop on our tour of Cape Breton.

The owners are so nice! They told us about where to eat, attractions in driving distance, and they even gave us a map and pointed out where things are. They went out of their way to make sure we had plenty of coffee. I bought maple syrup in the office that they were selling for a friend. I wanted to buy some syrup while in Canada, but didn't want to get a glass bottle, and they had plastic bottles. The rooms are not air conditioned, and it was pretty hot and humid when we were there. They do provide a fan, and the windows open, which helped. It wasn't too bad at night. It's an older motel, but it's very clean and the beds are comfortable. It's more like the motels I remember staying at on family road trips when I was a kid. Small room, not a luxury suite, but it served the purpose as a nice place to sleep and there was a lot to do within driving distance. It is very close to the town of Baddeck, which has several restaurants and cafes, and we visited a grocery store there to get snacks and fruit. It is within driving distance of several hiking trails as well. We chose one, Usge Ban Falls, that was about a two mile total hike with gorgeous woods and a huge waterfall.

We enjoyed our overnight here. Very friendly and helpful staff. Gorgeous view and great location. The room was clean, beds comfie and it was great to find a place that allowed our labrador (most places seem to only allow small dogs)

What a great place and room with a view. Clean and comfortable. Tina and Vince were very accommodating .We returned to our rooms one night around 8:00pm. Good night for a fire. Texted Vince and asked if he could get us some firewood. He texted me back in minutes and said he will start a fire for us in 10 minutes. Yes we had a fire on a beautiful night. Thank you Tina and Vince.

Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely place right by the water with low windows and seating to make most of the view from the room. Plenty of tea and coffee. Parts of the room were a bit dusty and there was a slight smell of damp but we were there late may before the season got going.

Amazing stay We were originally booked for 1 night, but ended up booking an additional night. The cottage is located at the start of Cabot Trail counter clockwise. Our room is merely 15 ft from the water and is very clean and also has everything we need, fridge with a freezer, kettle and microwave plus everything we need to have a hot drink. The owners are fantastic, very friendly and helpful and delivered excellent customer service. Tina provided a lot of useful information and also provided the Cabot Trail map to us. The location is perfect as it is right on the Cabot Trail. It is also a great location to catch sunset and sunrise. The location is very quiet and tranquil even though it is close to the main road. We would definitely stay here again.

Tout d'abord nous avons adoré l'accueil très chaleureux du propriétaire VINCE, un amour, et nous avons bien échangé avec lui. L'endroit est hyper calme et on entends à peine le bruit de la Trans Canadienne à deux pas. Tout est disponible dans la suite ( vue lac) de 70 M2 que nous avions louée. La terrasse est top, et quel bonheur d'y diner avec cette vue reposante et une bonne bière fraiche. Drap très doux, literie confortable. Nous y sommes restés 2 nuits et un regret, ne pas pouvoir nous y poser une nuit de plus. Super situation au départ du Cabot trail.
