We were given room 1 which had 2 large single beds in a lovely hotel which was once a bodega in pretty bad shape before it was renovated by the current owners. In an unusual position overlooking the countryside at the back but accessed through what looks like a commercial building estate. Has its own car park. The bedroom was spacious, had an opening window as well as an outside patio area. The opening window was great as there is no air conditioning and it was so hot when we were there, the only problem was that opening the windows let the flies in as well as the mosquitoes from the river running nearby so got slightly bitted to death! I don’t know what the rest of the rooms were like but ours had a couple of steps down to get to the bathroom which we were worried about at night in case we forgot they were there. There is however sun elevator to the first floor where all the rooms are. Nice bathroom, decent shower, the bed and pillows were tempur style so very comfortable. The evening meal was incredible value, we queried the price which was €15 with the lady, thinking this was the lunchtime price, she apologised and said it should be €14 as they had a special price for people staying there. There is also an a la crate menu and I think the difference is maybe the plates are larger (as well as being dearer), but if you are not ravenous I suggest you go for the €15 menu which includes a small starter, main (usually no potatoes or veg) and dessert along with a litre bottle of still water and a full bottle of wine which was quite drinkable. Could not believe the value for money, simple food but well cooked. We were a little confused as to what to choose so the lady just took us in hand and told us what to have for our courses and it was a great recommend. Breakfast was also good although for us just too many cakes, it was like standing in a cake shop trying to decide what cake to have but the server saying you can have a piece of everything!! The old lady that looked after us a breakfast had made the tastiest potato tortilla and I would imagine had made most of the cakes too. Really is a hidden gem, met 2 other lots of English here which in all our travels was the most Brits we had seen in one place…which just goes to show that us Brits can certainly sniff out a bargain!!
