Stayed for three nights, as it was our 10 year anniversary. The room they gave us was room was 3011 in the Aviemore hotel, which had just been painted that morning, dust sheets left outside the window. The toxic paint fumes were unbearable. Asked duty manager to check, he stayed, for less than 10 seconds as he couldn't bare the fumes. He informed us that he would try and sort the problem out. We Stayed in the room with the window open for a further 40 minutes. We went to the reception where we were shocked to find out nothing was happening. We informed another duty manager of our situation, he immediately called his manager who put us in the Highland hotel, Sam the duty manager of that hotel informed us that the room we were in had just been painted that morning!!, and was sorry for any inconvenience. We were informed that we would be staying at the Highland for the rest of our stay. Next morning we were contacted by Aiden who informed us that we would be moving again into an adapted room for our daughter. He stated that the room would be cleaned and ready in the hour, two hours later and packed the room was still not ready, so from 10am in the morning and several stressed phone calls later, day ruined, we finally got into the room at 5pm. We unpacked and tried to make the best of the rest of Saturday. Sunday we went out for the day, I placed the room service card on the door handle, as the room needed cleaning especially the disabled toilet and the shower seat, also needed new towels and tea condiments. We arrived back to our room, we were horrified and shocked at the condition the room had been left in, who ever came into our room only changed two towels, no cleaning had been done, no beds made or changed, no clean cups or tea condiments left, disabled toilet not cleaned, immediately informed the same duty manager about state of room, he informed me that room service had gone, he informed me that he would note our complaint, and we would have to stay in the room as it was!! I informed him that if the duty manager did not come to speak with me, I would go and get the queen size quilt and myself and my daughter who is in a wheelchair would camp out at reception. He made a call and the duty manager a man called Ryan came five minutes later and spoke to me. He apologised and was deeply concerned about the ongoing issue apon issues that we were having. He stated that this would be brought to the attention of the owner Jacob, he also assured me that I would be receiving a telephone call the next day, this never happened!! We are still waiting!! This was over a week ago. Ryan changed the bedding and the towels as well as giving us condiments, he in my opinion was the only person as a manager who helped us!!

Just spent the night at MacDonald Highland hotel, for the price I would have expected a more updated and modern room. The curtains were actually ripped and the place albeit clean is musty and old fashioned. The Aspect restaurant is lovely and the food was good. Definitely needs a refurb. I won’t stay here again. Better rooms in the premier inn.

Good size room & comfortable bed but overall experience not great value for money, especially the breakfast at the Aviemore hotel which could have been so much better with just a bit more effort, eg investment in PROPER coffee machines (what is presently on offer was a throwback to the 80/90s) plus no fresh pastries just a few tiny stale muffins. Not acceptable in this day & age. God knows what the large Italian groups staying there must have thought

Stayed in the Aviemore hotel at the resort. Didn't get off to the best start with the car park beside the hotel being full and then no staff at reception so a wait with a tired child. Room was ok space wise although the bathroom was a bit cramped. Very tired room with visible damage and mould on the ceiling coming through the paint. Dirty glasses in the bathroom but otherwise no complaints on cleanliness. Biggest issue from the room was the noise from the corridor as it sounded like people were standing in the room when outside. Breakfast was good, plenty to choose from and standard quality for a buffet. The pool and softplay were a hit with my wee one but the changing rooms felt a bit below par. Overall it felt like it was trying to be Crieff Hydro but just fell a wee bit short of the mark.

Dear Operations Manager, I am writing to address the serious issue regarding the rooms allocated to us during our stay. Both of our families booked Classic Family Rooms for the same price, yet the rooms we were assigned—3140 and 3223—are drastically different in size and amenities. Room 3140, where our friends are staying, is substantially larger, featuring a super king-sized bed, two sofas, a large table, and ample walking space that easily accommodates three large suitcases. In contrast, our room, 3223, has a small double bed that barely fits two people, only one sofa, and a much smaller table. The room feels extremely cramped, with barely any space for even one large suitcase. When we brought this issue to the attention of your staff, they could clearly see the significant difference between the two rooms. However, they continued to insist that the difference was only "slightly big." One staff member even suggested that if we were unhappy, we should leave the hotel and find alternative accommodations. This response is wholly unacceptable, especially considering we traveled all the way from London and finding a last-minute hotel is highly impractical. Additionally, the phone in our room is not working, further adding to our inconvenience and frustration. We are very disappointed by the service we have received so far and hope that you can address this situation promptly to ensure our stay is more enjoyable. Totally not worth it for what we paid. We booked a Highland lodge for six people with 3 double rooms all en suite. Everything you need for self catering with breakfast included. Great facilities for the kids swimming pool was great ice rink play park all available inclusive no booking. Great staff who were most welcoming and one person to mention was Ryan at main reception on check out. PILLOWS ARE AMAZING.

We returned today from a weekend break at the McDonald Aviemore resort. We arrived on Friday and on arrival to our room it was very tired and dated looking. No towels were left in room for showering and we had to ask for these. The corridors are tired and dated and hotel has a damp smell throughout. We booked the trip on a bed and breakfast basis for our family (2 adults & 2kids). We booked to the Aspects restaurant for our meal and although we did enjoy this we were presented with a bill for our kids meals (from the kids menu). When asked we were told that children are not included when you book a dinner bed and breakfast booking. We had to pay the bill and went to reception to complain about this. On speaking to the manager he stated that kids are not included and that this is included in the terms of the booking. Now I have checked this and at no time prior to booking does it state kids not included. The wording states dependant on menu taken. Why would anyone book a dinner package without their kids! It's safe to say that we definitely wouldn’t return here and in my opinion the place needs to be upgraded. It’s never a 4 star hotel.

I stayed here for two nights with my 14yr old son and 10 yr old son and to be honest I am glad we only booked 2 nights here. The hotel is on impressive grounds with beautiful views, I would imagine back in the day when this place was thriving it would have been fantastic however it is very apparent that the place is in need of serious TLC. The room was not big enough for 3 people sharing, the bathroom was barely big enough for 1 person in the room! Everything just felt a bit grubby and the whole place is in dire need of a revamp! Although the bathroom was clean it’s got mould and lime scale build up all around it! Windows were not clean throughout the hotel which ruins the view. Breakfast on the first day was awful, scrambled eggs were just watery, flies all over the bread and pastries, on the 2nd day the breakfast was slightly better! None of the staff was particularly friendly either. My kids enjoyed the pool with the slide, you have to pay extra for water keys and zorbs, £15 each is a bit much for what they get and it’s in and out you can’t swim after. The changing rooms again just grubby, nothing felt particularly clean. I would also recommend you bring your own towels, your lucky to get a towel at the pool and if you do they are covered and stained in something.The shop is just a shop you would find in your typical garden centre and just over priced. I’m glad I didn’t book the dining package as all that was on offer was the Italian and the fish bar and one of my kids doesn’t eat fish. The Italian was nice but again service really let it down! It’s ashame as this hotel has so much potential but without some sort of refurbishment and constant upkeep I’m not sure how much longer they will be able to continue!
