Cairn Lodge

Lovely hotel but could work on a few things to make experience even better. Pros -Beautifully decorated and adorned - Great breakfast -Bed comfort -Large bedrooms -Great location - Friendly staff Cons - If staying in a lodge room, you can hear upstairs bathing and moving about -No UHT milk (had to have fresh milk delivered but went off by next day as no fridge) -Check in took a while because no one answered bell after being rung twice

The closest to perfection in every dept. Eileen was brilliant helping with all our needs and suggesting places we could visit. The room no. one, was luxurious. The chef was perfection ate there twice couldn’t fault it and breakfast had everything. Bar and waiter staff were so pleasant and professional. Yes sometimes there was a wait for drinks but they are covering the bar and restaurant and their friendliness more than made up for it.

Driving up to the Cairn Lodge you see a beautiful white country style building surrounded by beautiful grounds. We arrived slightly early for check-in but our room was ready which was absolutely beautiful, lovely decorated and situated at the back of the hotel. Nice tea and coffee tray with a large bottle of Highland Spring which was refreshed the next day. Bath and a shower in the bathroom with all the toiletries required. Went down to the bar for a refreshment, the receptionist served us straight away. Good selection of non-alcoholic drinks on offer. We had dinner the first night of our stay. The restaurant is in a beautiful conservatory. The menu had something for everyone, maybe slightly pricey for some things but the quality and presentation of the dishes was 1st class. The two members of staff were very attentive and pleasant. After a very comfortable night sleep we were looking forward to breakfast. This did not disappoint. We were greeted by a lovely woman who showed us to our table and talked us through the menu starting by telling us everything would be served to us as we were to sit back and relax and enjoy our breakfast, which we certainly did. All in all a comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings

I actually feel a little bad writing this review as there is so much that is good about this place but unfortunately little things that could also be improved. We arrived early on a Tuesday afternoon before scheduled check in and had an enjoyable lunch whilst we waited for our room to be ready. Dining room looks fantastic and the food and service was excellent. Things then went slightly downhill however when we went to the bar in the afternoon as there appeared to be no staff present and whilst we were eventually looked after there did appear to be a lack of employees. At one point another customer phoned the hotel on his mobile to get some service in the bar as there were customers waiting and we got the impression that he may have been local and had done this before. However, we brushed this off as a minor mishap and enjoyed a couple of drinks although things regressed when we went for dinner later in the day. The pre dinner visit to the bar was good with great service and we even had the opportunity to order our food in advance before going through to the dining room but that was where the positives ended!! We were initially asked for our drink order and after ordering a bottle of wine this eventually appeared. However, a first for us was that the bottle which was not a screw top arrived opened, we weren’t asked to confirm that it was what we ordered, and then the waiter proceeded to pour without any conversation or asking us to try first. Our main courses then took approximately an hour to appear and whilst they were extremely tasty the damage was already done. We then decided to order dessert thinking it was just a one off and we were unlucky but again this took too long to appear. So all in all it was a rather frustrating and disappointing evening when it could and should have been so much better. Don’t get me wrong, the hotel looks excellent inside and out and our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff are all very friendly and attentive when you see them but there appeared to be not enough for everything that was going on. We also consider the cost to stay and the prices for food and drink to be very reasonable. Maybe we just caught it on a bad night but there weren’t a lot of other customers dining at the same time so there appeared no excuses for what was a very disappointing nights service. Maybe a new day and our visit for breakfast will make up for our disappointing evening!!

The staff, room, bar and restaurant were all amazing. Great choice of beverage in the very comfortable bar, food and wine list choices in the restaurant very good and service and food excellent. Rooms and bathrooms as good as the big hotel up the road and a fraction of the price, at least mine was, highly recommend this hotel.

We were visiting Auchterarder for the week and by chance found this great hotel. Was that good we went for tea twice in one week. 4 Adults and 2 children all enjoyed meals on both occasions. I have the burger on my first visit and it was absolutely fantastic deffo worth getting the hand cut chips. On my second visit I had a fillet steak this steak was melt in the mouth and was cooked to perfection. The staff were all lovely and gave was great with the kids

Super location of the hotel with the loveliest orangery and next to Auchterarder golf course. The hotel itself had a very high standard of service and the good experience. We also had dinner at their Garden restaurant with amazing food and service from Callum.

Stayed at Cairn Lodge for a couple of days and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very well appointed and the rooms are great, the staff are first class and offer a friendly and efficient service that really makes a difference. We ate in the Garden Restaurant on the first night and the meal and service were excellent and would recommend to anyone staying here. In summary great hotel, great staff and we will be back when we are next in the area.

What a charming wonderful place to stay! Eileen, Calum, Yvonne, Masie and the rest of the staff made every moment special. The rooms were beautifully decorated, eclectic with modern touches. I wish my schedule allowed us to stay longer to enjoy the more moments in garden dining room and phenomenal food!!
