Possibly the worst service I have received anywhere this year. Menu items unavailable, waited ages after ordering and paying to them be told half our meal was unavailable. When we complained we were told by one of the children serving us, in an aggressive manner ‘that no inconvenience had occurred’. The manager was ‘unavailable’ to complain to - we could see her behind the counter on her phone on both occasions we were told this. She just sent the children back. We left, many others did too. We will not return, ever!

What a nightmare so far! Fire alarm going off at 9.30 (drunk resident) midnight and someone is trying to kick someone's door down and calling all names under the sun, 12.30 more arguments and banging. No emergency number to ring the land line goes to answerphone. DO NOT STOP HERE IF YOU A SINGLE WOMAN OR want a good night's sleep before a busy day.

what a lovely place to stay and unwind nice little town to visit and some nice shops and pubs as well a big thankyou to Violet, Shannon and Anthony you made us feel welcome and at home, nice comfortable room as well we will be back Steve and Michele Petryszyn

Genuine review. Filthy, disgusting, mouldy, sticky. The shower head had BLACK MOULD. The light fitting had dead BUGS in the dome. The drawer handles had sticky residue on. The bathroom door had brown smears across it. The window frames had mildew on all edges. This is huge health hazard waiting to be exposed. The room facilities were poor, at best. A kettle was provided with two large mugs, but the mugs were stuffed with condiments. No cups, saucers, a tray etc. Plus a milk stain on the table. No thought has gone into the presentation or facilities at all. Absolutely disgusting. Do not recommend at all and will advise all family & friends to avoid for eternity.

Decided to try the carvery, on arrival late afternoon early evening we were greeted with dirty laundry left on the floor, we went through to the bar and ordered our meals. The meat and vegetables look like they had been left out all day. Cabbage was turning brown and very dry meat, Yorkshire pudding was rock hard. The restaurant was in a conservatory area, seating either side this left the main passageway to the rooms and bar for people to walk up and down so I felt a bit awkward eating, we left a lot of our meal as it was so dry. Our half empty plates were taken away we were just asked if we'd finished, not even asking if all was ok. A little bit of background music would have given the place a bit of atmosphere too. Not visiting there again.

Stayed in this hotel for my cousins wedding. When we arrived we got our room straight away which was easy to find. There was a party downstairs on the Saturday night but the music stopped at 12. The rooms were tidy and there was tea and coffee provided. When checking out we noticed it said breakfast was included so even though we had 5 minutes to spare until breakfast finished, the staff were really friendly and let us stay to eat. Don't listen to the bad reviews I would definitely recommend this hotel, it's affordable and in a good location

This is a great town hotel. Violet checked us in and nothing was too much trouble. The family room was very comfy. The beds were medium hard, The breakfast had everything on it and was delicious. For lunch had a great fish finger sandwich. Would definitely return if in the area. Thank you Red Lion.

A very nice well maintained pub/hotel, we had Sunday lunch for 12 people and all the food was presented nicely and tasted delicious with very nice portions, the staff were very polite and helpful, also the prices of food and drink were very reasonable .

Good value for money. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Good location. Parking was great. We had a meal in the bar and the food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Catered for different diets. Staff very attentive. Would stay again. Looking forward to our next visit.
