The ambience and the staff were great. The food was okay! What was atrocious was the £18.50 for 2 medium glasses of Malbec. This is a pub not a cocktail lounge not at all happy. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable, it’s a great shame! Will not be returning.

We only had one night here, was a quick stop over, but we absolutely loved it here, and will definitely stay longer next time Buddy and Kate are both wonderful and welcoming hosts. Our room was very clean, and had everything we needed. Our little doggie was made welcome too Excellent breakfast Thank you for a very pleasant stay Mr and Mrs Nolan

I’ve never stayed here, but i certainly would. We cycle a lot in the summer and the flying fish is often our stopping point. The staff are lovely and friendly, the food is top notch and the prices are perfect for the quality and service given. Even after the summer is over and we don’t return on our bikes for a year, the owners often remember us and what we have to eat. It’s personal there, and well worth a visit for the views as well.

We booked the Flying Fish Stables at very short notice and our host Kate could not have been more helpful. We was met by Kate on arrival and our room was spacious and clean with a lovely walk in shower plus the usual tv and tea making facilities. A great location just outside Ilminster. We decided to eat in and the food was great, especially the mutton curry. Would recommend for its hospitality and location. We will return on our next visit to Somerset. S&M (Kent)

This is a great little place somewhere in Ilminster. There is not much around unless you want to drive some. But we stayed for peace and quiet and we had a great time after being introduced to the local patrons! We had dinner which was delicious and exotic. Breakfast was also very good. The room was very well appointed and bed was monstrous! But it was very comfortable. Just a small problem, the shower is a funny one. I could not crank it down below very hot. So I opted for the bathtub for a lovely cooling bath. Unit 5 was the offender.

Been a few times before and will definitely be back again..without a doubt! Warm welcome, beds to die for (where the mattresses are from - would really love to know??? 🙏 Always have THE best nights sleep). Had our dogs with us - who were equally welcomed and were able to be with us while we had a couple of drinks by the fire. Breakfast in the morning was delicious - particularly the mushrooms! This place is very special and never disappoints…. Top stay!

It has been a long time since we have stayed at a place with such amazing facilities, the restaurant is amazing with devine food, the staff are so helpful and the prices are great! The rooms are just breathtaking! I travel a lot and must say this is as good as it gets! Thanks to all at the Flying Fish!

Carole was very welcoming, when we arrived. We were just in time for a delicious Caribbean styled dinner. Retiring to a lovely bedroom ; massive bed! Awaking in the morning to a lovely breakfast. Lovely location in the middle of the countryside , we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend .

We needed somewhere to stay overnight en route to Cornwall, and I'm so pleased I chose this hotel. The room was a great size, and the warmth and comfort of the accommodation was doubly matched by the amazing welcome we received. The pub and restaurant were lovely and cosy, and the food was good quality and delicious. Having discovered this jewel in the Somerset countryside, it will certainly be our first choice for future stays in the area.
