Masseria Spina Resort

An absolutely unforgettable experience. Spina is located just a few minutes drive from the historic city center of Monopoli. Beyond the stunning grounds and welcoming staff (Stella was a delight at reception), Spina is steeped with history, from its 16th century church to its 1,500 year old olive trees. The main house with its rustic red exterior and dramatic grand staircase offer the perfect backdrop for a family photo, post dinner pic, or even a wedding. The food at spina is also out of this world. From the Strascinate, to the burrata filled ravioli, eggplant parm, and even the fava bean purée, all the food we had was top notch. The service was also excellent, led by the captivating maitre d’ Domenico. Finally, I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed the historic tour hosted by Elena. Her passion for the property and its rich history kept myself and my family captivated throughout the duration of the tour.

We got married at Spina and had the most perfect wedding experience. We did a buyout of the 10 residences for our family to stay with us, and started the week with a tour of the grounds and aperitivo. Everyone was blown away by the history and the spread. Our tour guide, Elena, was excellent and spoke great English. We worked pre wedding to plan the whole thing with Sara D’Errico, who grew up on the Masseria and knows it inside and out. She had every detail thought out, knew all of the top vendors and was reassuring and reliable. Plus, in addition to being a wedding planner, she also handles the flowers, which were exactly what we wanted. Marco D’Errico assisted us with booking the residences and the restaurant portion. He was quick to reply, easy to work with, and so calm about the process, he instilled confidence. Both siblings were professional and accommodating. Our guests (we had 86) even said the food was some of the best they’d ever had at a wedding. Domenico, the restaurant manager, was an expert and on top of it all, from the tasting pre wedding, to the glass of Prosecco he handed us the moment we made our first appearance, to ensuring we (bride and groom) were being fed while also mingling with guests, to the lunch we had the following day with another 40+ people. Stella who was manning the reception for the majority of our stay, was so sweet and helpful, also spoke perfect English. We couldn’t have been happier. Highly recommend for the gorgeous grounds, friendly staff, delicious food, and the family (Meo-Evoli/D’Errico’s) who welcomes you into their historical home. If you want a unique experience in a stunning location, at least come by for a tour and a meal. If you’re looking for a fairytale wedding, look no further.

We chose the Masseria because we had an independent 4 rooms house, with our own patio. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had a complete kitchen with a washing machine and dish washer. The location of the Masseria is perfect. We used it as a base to visit Puglia by car, as it is 5 minutes away from the autovia that connects all the interesting places. There are two supermarkets 4 minutes away. Dinner in old town Monopoli is a must!

Nice place but not the real one for holidays. More designed for big events. Rooms are ok But no view from the terrace. There is a restaurant but not really crowded and no table outside. There is a pool but not concrete. Breakfast is available but no waw. Location is good to visit Monopoli and polignare.

I read online that this place is for lovers of food and wine, history, and culture - this is exactly true. The staff were fantastic, passionate people and the natural wine tasting was very very good 👌

In mid-September, a friend and I visited Masseria Spina for a meal. We were expecting something good, but little did we know, it would be the best meal we had on our travels. Don’t be fooled by the commercial road you travel on to find the Masseria. Once you turn off onto the access road, you’ll be transported 1,000 years into the past, enjoying the delights of the Masseria’s historic setting. I had the pleasure of visiting with an Italian-speaking friend, but this is not necessary at all. One of our hosts (four partners own and run the Masseria) spoke excellent English, and guided us through our experience. In terms of food, everything was exceptional, but we particularly enjoyed the cold cuts to start, and the parpedelle with stracciatella (local cheese) and porcini. Don’t skip dessert either, or their delicious Limoncello to finish. In between our main meal (we had antipasti and primi) and dessert, we took a short break for a walk around the grounds (a passeggiata mid-meal), which was delightful. We washed everything down with a delicious local Puglian white, which again we’d recommend. Overall, we couldn’t speak highly enough of the Masseria Spina. If you’re in the area, love good, local food and a comfortable dining experience, you’ll feel right at home. Look forward to visiting again soon!
