The White Tulip Hostel

Horrible place, Near De walle Red light area, Robbed, even some of their staff will steal your things. They give you locker keys n they keep the duplicate, n steal yr valubles wen you not in the room. Me n my girl friend also face the same issue... Dont go if you want to stay safe

Staff really friendly and close to the central station! I met a lot of nice people the room, specially a lot of French! Just recommend you to take your own padlock and flip flops to take a shower, during the day the shower is nice and clean but morning and nights it’s a little bit dirty.

At first I had a 4 person reservation, thanks to the weather conditions in AMS, 2 of the people I'm with didn't manage to come. So they allowed me to cancel at first having to pay a 4p room fee. I was talked into having a room change in to another room for the night, Number 303. The room was super small, unbearable for the stay of 2 persons. My remaining friend didn't wanna agree or cooperate with this situation. These leading me, living inside the hostel, 19Feb having to prepay the a 2p tiny room cost alone and having to check out next day morning .. PS. My friends already live in another hotel now, have reserved and checked in as 3 people room. I went to the White Tulip today, legally explaining i didnt had to pay or live under these circumstances. I was adviced from the receptionist to contact the manager tommorow evening cause he isnt available today and didn't wanna bother him... I wasn't suggested a room to stay the night, from the latest receptionist neither a solution for my problems.

Worst hostel I have ever stayed in, and that includes a remote one I went to in Africa!! Absolutely filthy, condoms in the shower. The beds were stained brown & yellow. We were on the top floor which was like a furnace, church bells going off from stupid hours right next to our room which I understand is not the hostels fault - however still very annoying. There was a man staying in the hostel who seems friendly with the staff trying to offer us ***** constantly. Lots of men there who were very full on & intimating. There were six of us but I would definitely not reccomend for a smaller group of girls. We did not feel safe at all. If you’re unlucky enough to have to stay here and end up on the top floor - good luck getting up the stairs with your luggage. Overall the place was filthy and loud. There was s lovely lady who cleaned the toilets every morning to a good standard however the people that stay in this hostel have no respect and it is stinking within the next 20 minutes. The whole hostel smelt stale and dirty, I actually heaved on the way home because I could smell it on all my clothes! I will never stay in this hostel again and I would warn anyone that is thinking of booking not to do it! I didn’t expect anything special as it’s a hostel but basic requirements such as cleanliness were not met to any sort of standard!!

Onestamente in 6 tappe che abbiamo visitato durante il nostro interrail, questo è stato senza alcun dubbio l’ostello peggiore in cui abbiamo pernottato: camerata da 8 a dir poco claustrofobica - non avevamo neanche lo spazio per aprire i cassettoni sotto il nostro letto in quanto la distanza fra i letti era inesistente -, sporco, principalmente frequentato da uomini di mezz’età, privo di spazi comuni se non dei disimpegni un tavolo e quattro sedie fra una camera e l’altra. Dopo la prima sera ce ne volevamo scappare, ma alle nostre lamentele il receptionist ci ha convinti a rimanere cambiandoci di stanza, ma siamo finiti in un’altra camerata da 8 - leggermente più spaziosa -, e durante la notte siamo stati svegliati da un uomo che sosteneva che quello su cui dormivo fosse il suo letto, iniziando a sbattere tutto ciò che trovasse davanti sul cassettone in ferro (nonostante la presenza del receptionist da lui chiamato) svegliando tutta la camerata (e alla fine aveva torto in quanto il suo letto era un altro). se siete delle ragazze ve lo sconsiglio vivamente poiché frequentato da soggetti ambigui. La posizione d’altra parte è centralissima (a due min. dalla stazione e pochi metri da piazza dam) ma ciononostante si trova in una delle vie più turirtiche/commerciali e dunque caotiche di tutta amsterdam (per intenderci non è una zona carina e tranquilla come magari qualsiasi altro quartiere come ad esempio jordaan). Nel complesso, una brutta esperienza.

Note positive: Docce ottime,bagni onesti per essere un ostello. Camera bella. Note negative cacciati dall’ ostello dal receptionist venendo minacciati dell’arrivo imminente della polizia solo per aver fumato (dalla finestra). Una volta arrivato(ore 2:30 di notte)il suddetto “receptionist”(ineducato al massimo) inizia a inveire contro noi altri,testuali parole “you smoke inside,you have to pay 50 euro fine,leave the Hostel”. Noi eravamo increduli,solo per aver fumato ad Amsterdam,e sottolineo ad Amsterdam, siamo stati sbattuti fuori e costretti a dormire in macchina in un parcheggio sotterraneo. Non torneremo mai più,sconsiglio anche negozio mushrooms accanto.
