Stayokay Hostel Amsterdam Oost (Zeeburg)

Digusting place, I woke up and found out I had BED BUGS bites all over my arms and legs. Staff were extremely rude and not helpful at all. The shower does not have constant HOT water. The shower would go COLD after 30s. The washroom is not clean at all. Waste of money.

Awful WiFi that struggled to load basic webpages, mediocre to uncomfortable beds (with pillows that seem at least 20 years old), and on the borderline of being unclean. Ok location, but would strongly recommend you stay at a different hostel.

Digusting place. Do not waste your money here. No AC and the hotel is just musty smelling. The shower does have constant hot water as the shower goes hot to cold randomly. The walls are paper thin as you can hear people talkin g through them. Staff was super unhelpful when I asked something about the shower problem.

I loved everything about this stay for being a hostel. We have never stayed in one before. But overall, experience is good EXCEPT! for one of the workers in the kitchen named Marselle (don’t know how he name is spelled). For breakfast, I didn’t know what to do. I see everyone getting food, so I thought that is what I do. I walked up to get the same thing as everyone else. She asked me, and me only, for a coin. And pointed to a sign that is not in English saying I have to pay for breakfast in a VERY condescending way as if I am trying to cheat them. Sorry, but the stay was almost $400 a night and I am not trying to get a $10 breakfast for free. Is her face and her actions that is very off putting. She told every staff and made me and my children fe absolutely awkward for even being there. Maybe her face is born that way, I don’t blame her for that if she is born looking like she is a condescending person. But if she did that on purpose. I am not feeling this vibe. Sorry ! Avoid that woman at all costs! She will make your stay super unpleasant. And the minus 1 star is ALL because of her!

We stayed in room 327 on May 14-15. I appreciated that they allowed us to check in early. I liked the big windows, but unfortunately, they didn't open much. Bath towels were provided, but no hand towel. The location was fine, but I would probably stay at one of the other Stayokay Amsterdam hostels next time.

This is a really friendly hotel with lots of space great rooms and a great bar. The staff are super friendly and can't help enough. Food great and all in all a fantastic place. The tram is no 14 and 2 min walk away. One note it is a cashless hotel. Superb stay!

It’s was ok for a few nite with child it was cold in the rooms and very echoey with the lockers and the bedding it self wouod need changed a in new ones very smelly had to make your own bed with the sheets and pillow cases they give you no towels in room and no coffee machine

I would definitely give you 5 stars if there wasn’t for the heat. You can only open the top of the window and that’s it.. We had to go showering in the middle of the night and then sleep together with cold, wet towels to cool down. It was hard to sleep in wich way though. I know you get what you’re paying for when you choose hostel before a hotel without an AC, but please at least fix the windows so you can open them. I’m happy about everything else, good food, clean, very nice staff and so on. But the heat will give you a total of 3/5 stars

When you go upstairs from the lobby into the hallways where the rooms are you IMMEDIATELY feel the heat, there is literally no air coming in. Same in the room itself, I was sweating like crazy and they make it so you can only crack the window a few inches. There were also ants on the windowsill and the floor. You put the sheet on yourself and I saw crumbs on my bed and used makeup wipes stuffed between the bed and the wall. The room was a nice size and it was great to have your own private shower and bathroom (stayed in a 4-person) but the heat made it unbearable. The restaurant food in the lobby was pretty decent and they have bike rentals but I wouldn't stay here again. I could have stayed in a hotel for the same price.
