Hotel Minoa

A great hotel just a hop and skip (well, 30 second walk :-) ) from the ferry. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our room which overlooked the small square in Katapola and out to sea. We found the room very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the world go by after our days exploring the island. The hotel rooms are above a bakery so although we didn't opt for the buffet breakfast we were able to chose lovely baked goods for breakfast (and other snacks during the day). Katapola itself has a good selection of places to eat and proved to be an ideal base for exploring the island.

I don’t typically write reviews but I needed to share how wonderful my stay was at Hotel Minoa. From the moment I set foot in the lobby, Joanna was so incredibly warm and kind, and gave the best advice for exploring the beautiful island of Amorgos. The room and hotel were impeccably clean, had the friendliest service and provided every amenity that I needed and asked for. I felt right at home the moment I arrived, was sad to leave, and am looking forward to visiting again. I highly recommend, to say the least.

This is a family run hotel based right in the centre of Katapola, with a fantastic view across the bay. The rooms are basic but have everything you need, including a very good shower and a fridge. The double bed is against a side wall, which can make access a bit tricky in the night! Rooms 9 & 10 both have lovely little balconies at the front, overlooking the bay. Breakfast isn’t included but a wide variety of simple meals and snacks are served downstairs. They even offer a carry out service to take a coffee up to your room. The only addition I would have liked would have been a kettle in the room.

The +: Nice hotel with excellent location right in the middle of the port of Katapola. Very easy to find when out of the ferry: 3 mn away! Pleasant welcome when you arrive, although little contacts afterwards (we never saw the owner Jeanne who was mentionned in several critics). Rooms were nice, and well kept. The -: It would be nice to have fitted sheets: an instant after you get in the bed, the bottom sheet does not fit anymore which makes it raher unpleasant as the bed becomes a complete mess!!! Fridge works with the room keys: so it only works when you are in the room, which is rather useless as it takes a while to have some fresh inside the fridge. Besides it was quite noisy, so we decided not to use it. On TV only greek channels... Breakfast is more than basic and very disapointing: no presentation and not much on the buffet, thin slices of cheese and ham just out of plastic containers, no eggs (you have to pay a supplement ...), bread a bit dry, and as for jams ... only orange in 3 different pots. 2 very stuffy cakes (while we are in a bakery). And when you arrive , and no coffee left, no orange juice left, the maid sitting on a chair with her mobile. You have to go and ask the manager: not much of customer service! So all in all, disapointed after the critics we had read.

Amazing hopsitaly! The location was excellent - just a couple of minutes away from everything and we loved staying there. Ioanna and her husband were so helpful and kind that I am definetely coming here again! Thank you for making our holiday so special!
