Le Pavillon des Lys - Hôtel Particulier

We were very disappointed in this hotel. The location was good, but photos exaggerate the size and appearance of the rooms. Worst part was the rude unwelcoming woman at reception and breakfast. She was abrupt and downright unfriendly. We speak english with some french and noticed that she was MUCH more friendly to french speakers. We would absolutely NOT return.

When I saw the exterior photo, I thought the hotel would be in the country, but its location is perfect for exploring this beautiful town, with lots of stores and restaurants nearby. The staff are warm, attentive and accommodating…we must mention Olivier, who treated us as if we were friends or family come to visit this exquisitely decorated house. The room was gigantic, with huge bathroom (both shower and claw foot tub), and a separate dressing room with cozy sofa for reading. Two issues: we didn’t know there was a room safe until we discovered it several days into our stay, although you feel that you don’t need it here. The other thing is that I need a flat pillow ( I should travel with my own). I didn’t ask for one….

I consider the rooms 3 star quality. Our room was large but the others were small and decor is plain. Bathrooms are ok, cloth shower curtain to the floor, good water pressure in shower. Breakfast was ok--boiled eggs, cheese, croissants, packaged yogurt. Can't beat the location for Amboise, can walk everywhere. There is plenty of parking. Reception was helpful, good recommendations for restaurants and helped us find a pharmacy. Quiet location with a small garden with seating.

What a wonderful hotel this really is. Only our second visit unfortunately…we use it as a staging post for roadtripping. And what a lovely stepping stone it is. Amboise is beautiful, and this lovely old building, tastefully decorated and furnished certainly fits in. Wonderful welcome from the staff and owner. Lovely clean room and finally…we don’t usually take breakfast but here, a simple French breakfast with great coffee, stunning juice and tasty meats, cheese and of course breads and pastry’s is a must. Thank you once again, we hope to return soon.

What a charming hotel in the center of Amboise. The room was lovely and big (chambre deluxe) in a small annex just off of the main building. (We had a surprise upgrade.) The shower was fantastic, walk in with a rain shower and those extra side massage type shower heads. Parking is free and secure. You can walk everywhere from the hotel, it's a great location for exploring the Loire Valley. Service was lovely, and breakfast was a good continental selection in the beautiful old salon in the main house.

This is a quaint hotel in beautiful Amboise, The staff was wonderful. We loved our room (patio suite room on 1st floor). We had a fantastic view of the chateau from our terrace, where we enjoyed wine and cheese each evening. I highly recommend this room which is huge and had plenty of closet space. The hotel is so walkable to many restaurants and shops and the beautiful Chateau de Amboise. Wished we could have stayed longer as this place felt like home.
