Three Shires Inn

A truly beautiful pub hotel. Great friendly team, beautiful rooms, good food and real fire. Off road parking. Nothing to complain about at all. We will be back.

Myself and my new wife were on a mini moon. Booking wax easy. Correspondence was faultless. The food was second to none. We were greeted by Julie who I must say was just fantastic. She catered for all our needs and nothing was to much trouble, even if it was getting me strawberry ice cream with mint ice cream. She said it sounded awful but I recommend this to anyone staying Lee was also a true gentleman and again couldn’t do enough for us. I don’t know the chefs name but I gave to say the food was fantastic and well presented. A++++++

Having explored the Lake District, as a hiker, biker and climber since my early 20s, I mistakenly thought that I knew all the great places to visit. I’ve ridden, hiked and driven past this beautiful country Inn, so many times over the years, and always thought “that looks quite nice.” As a writer though, I now have to confess that that would be an understatement. It’s a bit like saying that Wordsworth could pen a nice a poem - for in truth, the Three Shires Inn is probably one of the nicest country Inns that you’re ever likely to encounter. And, dare I say, having travelled the length of breadth of Europe, it’s a place that compares with anything elsewhere. The rooms are super, of the highest quality, and so very comfortable. The staff are welcoming, friendly, informative and professional. The food is delicious and simply perfect, and it all fits neatly into a truly beautiful part of the Lake District National Park. Whether you choose to hike or to bike, there are endless options from the door, allowing you to park up for a few days and forget about the chaotic world elsewhere. Yes, the Three Shires Inn is food for the soul, and should be on the bucket list of every lover of the sublime Lake District fells.

Fabulous room, we were in Little Fell. All perfectly clean and nicely decorated. En-suite was newly done, had a bath with shower over. The bed was comfortable. The staff were all great, especially Julie who runs the entire site, she made us feel welcome and saw to our every need. She has great local knowledge on walks and amenities. We had breakfast and dinner during our stay, the food was really good too. It’s Highly recommended and we can wait to return. It’s situated in a peaceful but scenic hamlet with walks for all abilities.

Just got home from a 2 night stay at Three Shires. I have to say Julie was brilliant, she was a great host and made sure we were looked after. Lee was also fantastic, great service and very friendly, would recommend to everyone. The food at breakfast and evening was great, wouldn't change anything.

Stunning views from the beer garden and our room (the front rooms look over Little Langdale), great food and friendly staff. Our room, Black Sails, was cute, clean and comfortable with a lovely new bathroom and powerful shower over bath. Easy to sleep, very peaceful on an evening. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Julie was just brilliant; she never stopped and even got our electric car plugged in (an added bonus, that you can charge an EV there). Breakfast and dinner were a real treat. Our favourites were the smoked duck starter, also the soufflé and steak and ale pie. With so many lovely walks-from-the-door, we definitely recommend and look forward to returning!

Just home after another glorious four nights at Three Shires in the recent hot snap. We would like to thank Tony, James and all their staff for their courtesy, helpfulness and sense of fun. A special thank you to the amazing Julie and Lee for their help always ready to offer an answer to a problem and the wonderful chef who creates such imaginative dishes! His fish dishes are sublime! All above alongwith a lovely room, with views of the fells, comfortable beds, what more could one wish for! So looking forward to our next visit.

We went to to have a walk down to the Cathedral Cave and Slater's Bridge, then we stopped by this lovely pub in the village of Little Langdale. It has a good selection of local brews. It was very busy, but we found a vacant outdoor set and had some food and drinks. My wife said she had the best burger she ever had - it was venison. Parking is for customers only at the time of visit. You cannot park there, have a drink or whatever, then go off for a long walk. I'm sure the rooms are nice, but if you're not staying there, it's a very nice pub to visit.

We stopped by this gem of a find halfway through a walk. It was a beautiful hot day and we were in need of refreshments! We had 2 pints of shandy and a tuna sandwich. The lady and gentleman who served us were very friendly. We ordered at the bar having secured a table inside to stay cool. Our food came very quickly and was very fresh and delicious. It was a much needed pit stop and would highly recommend if you are passing.
