Pestana Blue Alvor Beach - All Inclusive Hotel

Amazing holiday. Special mention to Miguel from the animation team as well as the young lady who worked with him (Moana - sorry we didn’t catch your name! They were brilliant and kept the whole family entertained. , especially the Disney show. The pool is very cold however you do get used to once you get in. Views from the balcony are amazing, ignore the reviews about the lifts they are very straightforward and easy to use. The food was not what we expected for a 5 star resort, with breakfast being the same all week, the food truck did not appear the week we were there and the pool snacks were disappointing. The hotel and pool areas are really clean and the sports facilities are brilliant and easy to book at reception, lovely short private walk to the beach with great restaurants for lunch. Deffo recommend having a trip out to Slide & Splash nearby.

Can’t fault this hotel. The staff are lovely and always helpful. There are so many staff in the restaurant, constantly clearing away and always with a smile. The food was lovely, lots of choice and always fresh. Lovely healthy Mediterranean food. The drinks were all named ones. You could help yourself at meal time to wine. Lots of soft drink options for kids. The pools and beds were great. The room was comfortable and cleaned every day. I went with my daughter and granddaughter and the kids club and entertainment kept my grandaughter happy all week. They were great. I highly recommend this hotel. Also 5 mins walk to gorgeous beach

Lovely hotel with good and bad. Overall we had a lovely stay at this hotel. The hotel is clean, there is lots of staff and they were all very friendly. I will summarise the main points of our holiday. Food - this was ok, If you are a fussy eater or don't like seafood then this is not the place for you. There wasn't much choice or variety and not much choice for children, but that being said I am a slightly fussy eater. 2 members of my family loved the food and tried lots of different things so this could be down to personal choice. Animation team - As we had a 5 year old with us the entertainment is important and it was amazing at this hotel. Miguel in particular was fantastic, our son loved him and he always made us feel welcome and stopped for a chat so I would like to extend a huge thank you to him for helping to make our holiday so enjoyabe .Also Theresa and Fabio were great. I hope the animation team get the recognition they deserve as they work extremely hard. Rooms- We stayed in a superior family room with sea view and it was wonderful. Very clean, spacious and modern. We recieved housekeeping every day the room was cleaned and fresh towels every day. Check in and out - both of these were smooth. At Check in we were greeted with drinks, orange juice or a glass of bubbly. Our room wasn't ready but we're were free to enjoy the all inclusive benefits while we waited. We recieved a phone call when our room was ready. We checked out very early before breakfast service and we were given a continental breakfast choice which was great before our early flight. Themed restaurants- these were the biggest disappointment for us. The Italian restaurant was of extremely poor quality and was not worth the reservation. At the surf and turf restaurant I was unfortunately served raw chicken, I am currently trying to find an email for the hotel to discuss this with them as I don't like to cause a fuss during my holiday. Bar Service - this was very poor. Most of the time there was just one bartender serving on the bar which meant you often had to wait in excess of 20 minutes to be served. This needs looking at and the hotel needs to make sure there is more bar staff on duty. Overall we had a wonderful holiday and will be returning.

Arrived and was greeted with smiles etc, a warm welcoming which was nice. Went for lunch straight away as our room wasn't ready yet . Lunch had a variety of options . Was quite nice. Wandered around the site and got drinks and snacks. Once our room was ready we got keycards and checked in the family room was quite basic. The lift system is absolutely a super mess. Super super slow and seen so many people utilise the stairs instead. What i did like was other party members couldn't go to our floor without a keycard. 2 x single beds , a sofa bed 2 fit 2 children, which was rock hard. The blankets for the kids bed was so thin. We had to request for thicker covers. The toilet door had no lock. Fridge had 2 x juices and a bottle of water which I believe is tap water as I was able to see things floating inside. Then dinner time arrived. There was no mention of being able to book for the restaurants during check-in. Checked on the system and all the bookings were full which was such a shame. Information was on the flyer provided but would of been a nice touch to allocate dinner during check in. So we had no choice than go to the generic Acqua. Dinner meal time , get there early if you get there late their main daily theme maybe all gone. The lunch / dinner was more or less the same and by the end of the 1st day I felt disappointed because the food selection was more or less the same . My kids were excited day for food by day 2, they were sick of the selection. Maybe its a sign for us to go on a diet and eat less. Booking excursions the staff seemed a bit fed up , probably thinking we weren't going to book anything. But when we got all the details we booked a trip and the staff member seemed to be slightly happier. Room cleaning we didn't get it cleaned daily. As we didn't need cleaning but the cleaning lady was nice and gave us supplies we needed. The pool outside was freezing. Overall. I don't believe this is a 5* , 3* if I was being kind. Alvor is such a nice place shame the hotel expectations isnt what we wanted.

This hotel is by far the cleanest I’ve been to, I’m super fussy, the food fabulous and even my teenage daughter is happy, I can’t wait to come back, I was in room 310 beautiful view, quiet the entertainment in the evening was fab, the staff were exceptional friendly, nothing negative to say, from the time we arrived at reception I have felt relaxed and happy

My husband and I have just returned from a ten day stay at the hotel. It is a beautiful hotel and the facilities are great. We had a large comfortable room with a balcony. However there were a number of issues that took away from the overall experience. This hotel is not a 5 star hotel as experienced by me in Ireland. At best it is 3 to 4 star. The food especially the evening meal leaves a lot to be desired. There was a lack of variety, too much fish for a non fish eater. The meat and vegetables were largely cold. We simply couldn't eat there for ten nights. We ate in town 4 nights and went to Fuego one night. The food there was acceptable but nothing spectacular. Breakfast and Lunch were satisfactory and having unlimited drinks was good. The hotel is very busy and noisy and not suitable for older people. On another note,I gave clothes in for laundry. I noted it was quite expensive but I was running out of clothes so left it in and requested the clothes be returned in 24 hrs at a 50 % fee of the total cost. Next day came. No clothes. They didn't arrive until 2 days later and then sent me back the wrong clothes. They located my clothes but wanted me to pay the 50 ,% fee which I refused. I paid the basic fee. Then on checkout I was asked to pay for the laundry. Luckily I had the transaction on my account to prove I had paid. There was another incident where they used my husbands card to take a 250e deposit for incidentals although we d paid for everything in advance. This was unacceptable and not adequately explained by the hotel management.
