Pros and cons It was difficult to check in. I'm okay going to another location to check in, but when I went there, that front desk was unattended. I had to wait a really long time for someone to show up. When they did, they were super nice, I'm guessing they are really understaffed. When i got to my room at the hotel down the street, there was no toilet paper. You kind of expect it, so it was an awkward moment when i realized there was none. Called and they said to get some at the lobby. Then called back and said wait, there's none in that lobby, they'll bring it out.... from the other hotel. (Sigh) Minisplit AC made an awful noise 24/7, but meh, at this point was just tired. Room and decor was really cute! Very rustic and charming. Overall it was okay. Being the "other" hotel down the street and not staffed has its pros and cons. Seems really neglected, but also very private.

Now, where do I begin?The toilet would not flush properly. The swimming pool was ice cold. The faucet handle on the bathroom sink came off in my hand and I had to fix it. There was no coffee in the kitchen. The light fixture pulled down when I turned off the light at the fixture. The lighting was very poor. I have never stayed in a room that was so noisy. The bathtub had black around the edge. I think I deserve a partial refund for my bad experience. The lady at the hotel where we picked up the key was wonderful!

We’ve always wanted to stay here. It was wonderful stay—comfortable beds, plenty of towels for 4, decorated nicely, and the staff was very responsive.

Good Place This is an interesting spot. There is no staff on site so you need to go into twon to their sister property to check in. The room is OK - the shower stall is a tiny square, but the water is abundantly hot. The noise from the train is a lot, but if you can sleep through it, then it's fine. I would not stay here again, but there arent a lot of options - I think I would look more closely at Fort Stockton.

Rustic Charm vs Neglect We stayed here a few years ago and really enjoyed our stay. I remembered it as quaint, rustic and charming -- so when we were going to be in the area again -- I rebooked. This stay was somewhat disappointing from what I remembered. Our room was all it needed to be for our one night stay, but honestly could have been so much nicer if everything looked cared for and felt cleaner. When I stepped out of the car, it wasn't as I remembered...the outside looked neglected with overgrown brush, leaves piled and debris/trash. Inside furnishings were rustic and appropriately decorated but somewhat deteriorated with trim falling off and sink and shower appeared dirty because the tile, sink hardware and porcelain were very worn. When I pulled back the curtains the window sills and windows were dirty, but an even bigger issue for us was that there was a huge gap under the door allowing light and outside air into the room (the threshold and door sweep need to be replaced) making the room feel unsecure.

Quaint little quiet place. The shower needs work and we called for new linens but they didn't come.
